I am really mixed up. I thought if we signed up for one (Clark) or (Clarke)
we would be receiving information from both. Please, is this true or not?

Patti,
The answer, is No. You can search any surname. In your search you might
also want to enter a placename for instance, while in the CLARK list archive
you can also enter Windham (in my case this would be Windham County, VT)
and see what comes up ! Have fun!

"Hello Cousins!"
One can subscribe to both lists if one so desires, but I am hoping that
each of you has subscribed to the CLARKE Family Mail List, and that
all posts be made to the CLARKE Family Mail List as that list has been
in existence since the summer of 1996. With a total subscribership in
excess of 735 members at the present time, it is definitely one's best
bet if one might wish to subscribe to only one list for CLARK and/or
CLARKE families, in hope of making contact with one or more other
researchers who might be familiar with your family! The CLARKE
Family Mail List's Archives are most definitely your best bet in
checking for either CLARK or CLARKE family! Due both to its tenure
of existence, and to its total number of researchers actively seeking
both CLARK and/or CLARKE families (even though named the
CLARKE Family Mail List). Had I originally named the list CLARK, I'd
still be having this same problem with a list serving duplicate purpose.
If I had originally named the list CLARK(E) as a few have thought to ask,
I dare say we'd now be looking at three separate lists rather than just
the two! The CLARKE Family Mail List is without doubt, one of the
largest mail lists to have been in existence as long as it has, and not to
have splintered into a second, and sometimes third, rival competing
mail list due to an outbreak of hostilities between factions within a
list. I do thank each and every one of you for your continued patience,
cooperation, and participation in either the CLARK or CLARKE, or
possibly both CLARK and CLARKE Family Mail Lists!
And I do thank each and every one of you who are monitoring the
CLARK Family Mail List, and not making duplicate posts to both lists!
Thank you all so very much! I cannot but believe researchers will be
thanking all of us for trying to keep as much CLARK and CLARKE family
information together in one place for as long as we might be able, which
will most definitely be to their benefit over the years ahead. Should any
one be concerned that they might miss out on something that is posted
to the CLARK Family Mail List, this list also has an archives, but only for
part of this year due to it date of origination, and of limited size due to
its still relatively small subscribership compared to that of the CLARKE
Family Mail List. Those CLARK Family Mail List Archives can be accessed
through the CLARK Surname Resources located at:
http://resources.rootsweb.com/~clusters/surnames/c/l/CLARK/
Thank you again for your patience, cooperation, and participation in
the CLARKE and/or CLARK Family Mail List(s).
Good luck and much success in your search for family!

I am a descendent of Jackson J. Clark of Crawford County, GA (around the Fort
Valley area, just south of Macon, GA). He first appears in Georgia census
records in 1830. My dad and I took a trip last weekend to the cemetery where
Jackson's son, John Benton Clark, is buried in Montezuma, GA. While out, we
stopped at the Fort Valley Public Library and found a tiny little book that
contained a small listing of Clark's buried at Old Benevolence Baptist
Cemetery.
The hunt was on...the only directions were "located in southern Crawford
County, GA near Benevolence Baptist Church. Area is completely overgrown
with trees, bushes and vines. Copied Dec. 3, 1975." It wasn't much to go on
and we decided to stop at a gas station and ask for directions to the area.
To my luck, there was a mailman taking a lunch break in his truck. What a
person to ask! He gave us general directions since he hadn't been to the
area in years.
We followed his directions right to the church but didn't realized we were
there. The name had changed and the original building was destroyed in a
"cyclone" in 1911 (a fact I found in another book in the library before we
left). We drove to a service station in the area and they confirmed that was
the correct church. There were woods all around the church so we began the
hunt. After 40 minutes of searching and many cuts and scrapes, we found
them...our relatives! There is something so special about actually standing
where you know your relatives once stood and probably worshiped! Here is a
list of the stones in this area a short distance from the church:
Clark, Jackson J. Apr. 3, 1817 Feb 10. 1909
Clark, Mary Ann,
wife of J. J. Clark Aug 16, 1821 Dec. 20, 1885
If you need dates for the others, email me. I am not listing their dates
since I have not connected all of them to Clark's yet.

I am new to list, so if my Mary has been discussed before, I apologize for the redundancy.
I am trying to find something on Mary CLARKE POST (b.Aug 1817). She died in Potter County, PA in 1900 and was buried in Austin, PA. She married Richard Post(b. 1815) in 1835 and they spent at least 30 years in Potter Co. Their children were
Sarah 1837
Sabra L 1838
Reuben M 1841
George A 1842
Nancy M 1847
Hestina 1851
We have no other information on Mary and very little on Richard at this time, other than he was from Binghamton, NY. Two side of the family have 'stories' of Indian lineage and we both think it has something to do with Mary's family.
If any of this is significant to anyone ... here's hoping.

I am trying to find the family of Sheldon CLARK. He married Annie Belle
BEARD. If Sheldon was the same age as his wife he would have been born
around 1920. I have no idea where he was born, but probably it was New York
State.
Annie Belle Died in Cumberland County, Tennessee in 1994. Sheldon was still
alive at that point, I believe he has died since then, but the SSDI does not
have a Sheldon Clark dying in Tennessee.
I believe they had no children, but I'm hoping there is a Clark family out
there that might be able to identify him as an Uncle/Cousin/Brother, etc...

Bruce Koons: Thank you for the information on your William Clark. My great
great grandmother Ella Frances CLARK Wymer's death certificate indicates that
her father's name was William Clark -- birth place Indiana and date of birth
1833(?) and that his wife's name was Margaretta/Marqaretta Williams
--birthplace Ohio. Should anyone recognize this family any information would
be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Shauna.
I can top that! I am looking for my grandmother's brother, Glenn Clark who
died in 1951. There are 178 Glenn Clarks in the SSDI, but not him! Sharyn
