Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hello fellow researchers,
For those of you who are subscribers to ancestry.com "Historical Newspaper
Collection" and can not find anything when you do a search of the West Virginia newspapers it may not be because there is nothing to find. They (ancestry.com) have messed up, lost, whatever, the searchable index to the Charleston Daily Mail and possibly other newspapers; it may not be just West Virginia. This problem with the searchable index has been going on since sometime in August 2004 or before. Although the images are there it's pretty much useless without a searchable index. I guess that I will just continue to ask for extensions until the problem is resolved.
I received this from ancestry.com recently.......
<<<<We regret the continued difficulty you may have experienced at
Ancestry.com. Currently the Charleston Daily Mail does not return any
results when searched. Our programmers are aware of this. We do not
however have a published date as to when this issue will be resolved.
All I can do for you regarding the Charleston Daily Mail search problems
is to extend you Historical Newspaper subscription, as a result your
subscription is now set to renew on 4 June 2005. We apologize for any
inconvenience you may have experienced as a result of this problem.
If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know.
