Subject: My Clark Line
Hello fellow Clark researchers---I just joined this list after seeing that it would also include the VA Clarks. I know very little about my Clark line and am hoping from some help from someone out there who knows more than I do.
Here is my Clark line (what I know of it):
1 Henry Clark poss. m. Emernal Hill (I've heard this may not be correct)
2 Thomas Clark (b. aft. 1774, Amelia Co., VA; d. 1837, Newton Co., GA) m. Priscilla Doyle
3 Nancy Clark(e) (b. 1784; d. 1864; buried Greenvine, Washington Co., TX) m. Henry Burdette (b. 09/14/1778; d. 1864; buried Greenvine, TX)----these are my 4g-grandparents
I'm really hoping someone can tell me more about Henry and Thomas.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
Jan Lindley

Martha,
Ellen may have been an aunt of my GGG-grandfather Samuel's then. The
connecting family names lead me to believe that we do have a connection. Now
if I just knew the names of Samuel's parents and his wife Nancy THOMAS'
parents. I know from experience in researching my HARRISON lines that there
were many cousin marriages and this went back an forth many generations so I
would hazard a guess that maybe Samuel's wife Nancy may have even been a
kinswoman.
Also since Ellen was a name used in the CLARK lines this could also be a
clue. There was a problem with AOL a bit earlier today so maybe that is why
your post to me privately did not come through. I would be interested in
seeing what you have on the THOMAS and MCATEE lines so that I can possibly
try to find some connection. Please e-mail me again off list if you can. I am
sending my order forms in tomorrow's mail to NARA for the Civil War files
(pension/military) for Samuel, son Abisha who served with Joseph Thomas CLARK
in 6th WV Infantry.
I also am sending in a form for a copy of the military record of Samuel &
Nancy (Thomas) Clark's youngest son George Miller CLARK who served in the
Confederate Army --PVT., Co. B, 20th VA Cavl. - formed in Marion County, VA
(WV)
I am hoping that some more clues will be gleaned from these files. This is
what I did get on him from his GG-grandson Joe McGuire:
CLARK, GEORGE MILLER - Pvt. Co. B. b. Monogalia Co., W.Va., c. 1843.
Enl. Marion Co., W.Va., 3/27/63 (3/23/63). POW record shows enl. as Bath
Co., 4/63. Not stated if present or absent on muster-in roll dated
7/25/63. Present 11/1/63 - 8/31/64 (dated 1/6/65), AWOL since 9/14/64.
Clothing issued 3/31/64. Ab. 9/1/64 (dated 12/30/64), AWOL since
9/14/64. Cpd. Marion Co., W.Va., 3/11/65 (3/10/65). Sent to
Cumberland, Md., then to Clarksburg, W.Va. Transf. to Wheeling, W.Va.,

Kathie,
I tried twice to send this to you at your eaddress...but it
was returned...so am using the Clark site as that is where I
found you...
Your family and my husband, Cecil's fmaily have a lot of the
same surnames. Clark is just one of them. Cecil's
granduncle David L. Thomas married Rebecca Ann McAtee (1850)
and David' brother Jacob (1849) married Rebecca's sister
Mary Jane McAtee (1853). The Thomas' parents are Michael
Thomas and Esther Coffman.
You have a George Calvin Michael (1875) and Cecil's aunt
Tracy Ethel Gates (1893) married Harley Calvin Michael
(1896). Harley's parents: William Ellsworth Michael (1875)
and Daisy Mae Stewart (1876). Maybe the name Calvin is from
a common ancestor.
Ellen Clark was born 24 Oct. 1788; died 29 Aug. 1852, Little
Orleans, MD. I have no idea whether she was born in VA/WV
or MD.
Martha
Kathie,
Your Samuel Clark was born c1813...so the Ellen I'm
researching is probably not a sister
as she was born 24 Oct 1788 (about 25 years earlier than
Samuel). She married Henry Bevans (b1 May 1808). She died
29 Aug 1852 Little Orleans, MD.
Martha
For those of you who have not seen these, I have posted 10 depositions from
my GG-grandfather Joseph Thomas CLARK's Civil War pension file on my family
biographies page. I will be adding more as soon as I can. For those
interested in researching your CLARK ancestor who served in the CIVIL WAR,
see the NARA web site for order forms and other important resource
information. You can find alot of interesting information in a military file
and the pension file often can be quite large. In my GG-grandfather's case
there were 136 pages. Associated names to my CLARK lines from WV are: THOMAS,
MCATEE, WRIGHT, LEMLEY, KINCHELOE, JOHNSON, YOUST, CARDER and others.

Hello:
I am trying to find more information on my great great great grandfather,
Anthony Clark, and his family. They lived in Monroe County till about 1815.
Then they moved to Lawrence County, Ohio. His only son, Anthony Clark, Jr.,
is the one that I am most interested in. The last definite contact I have on
him is a deed dated 1850 stating he was living in Sangamon County, Illinois.
If any of my Clark cousins out there have any information on any of these
ancestors of mine I would love to hear from them.

Martha, I wonder if Ellen was a sister of my GGG-grandfather Samuel Clark. My
GGG-grandmother was Nancy THOMAS. Samuel's brother Isaac's daughter Elsie
married a Charles MCATEE. I would bet that we are related. My GG-grandfather,
son of Nancy THOMAS & Samuel CLARK was named Joseph Thomas CLARK but always
was called Thomas or Tom. You can view my webpages on the CLARK lines and my
database also is at Rootsweb World Connect. My main genealogy site is

Would anyone know what Clark married Mary Daugherty around 1803. Or any information on Mary. He may have died or been killed shortly after or they went there seperate ways shortly after they were married as she soon married Peter Mason. She lived in Monongalia County Virginia near Kingswood. I t is now in Preston County West Virginia. Thanks, Alice
My husband's grgrgrandmother was Ellen CLARK born 1788; died
1852 in MD. She married Henry BEVANS in 1808. She probably
lived in the VA/WV/MD area.
Am hoping to find her parents and siblings.
Some of his other lines, direct and collateral, include
THOMAS and MCATEE.
Thanks for any help.
