Subject: CLERK/CLARKE from Ireland came to America
1836
Loughlin CLERK/Republic of Ireland possibly born about
1808--Laughlin
CLARKE/Came to America in 1836 (age 28)--In Sept. 1840
settled in
Cumberland, MD (Allegany County) --Loughrie Clark/then
came to Preston Co.,
VA/WV by 1850
To whomever might read this:
This is what I really want to know for my Christmas
genealogy wishlist.
I want to know exactly what part of Republic of
Ireland my
g.g.grandfather came from. I want to know his birth
date. I want to know whom his
parents were.
His name was either Loughlin Clerk/Laughlin Clarke in
Ireland.
Laughlin Clarke came to America sometime in 1836
possibly at the age of 28 so
that would make him be born about 1808 but where?
Also what ship did
he come to America on? What port of Ireland did he
leave to connect to
a ship in England or wherever did he leave to gain
passport to America?
What date did he leave in Ireland to travel to England
to come to
America? What exact date did he arrive in America in
1836. What port did
he arrive in America was it New
York/Philadelphia/Baltimore/New Orleans
or did he come through Canada then come on into
America?
I have proof that he existed from Sept. 4th or 5th
1840 in America
cause he was in Cumberland, MD (Allegheny County) at a
baptism on that
date.
It is from his birth until Sept.4/5, 1840 that makes
it a real mystery
for me. That is whom I really want to know about for
Christmas 2003.

My ancestor that has brought a halt to our family
search is Armstead
Clark,
born about 1780 in Spotsylvania, Va., or possibly
Fairfax, Va. He
married a
Mary Almond of Spotsylvania, Va. and lived there. Some
of his children
appear to
have moved to Madison, Va.( William, John).
I am asking Santa to produce any info. from his old
records on this
early
Virginia Clark!
Thanks to all my Clark cousins, and have great
Holiday!!

Thanks to one member who took alot of his time to help me, I now have found
My John A. Clark from 1850 census to 1880 census.. Hooray ! Now I got to find
out who John's folks are and what his wife's maiden name was.. They travel
around ,so this ought to be fun..
Thank you ..... : )
My GG-grandfather was Daniel Clark, born in VA abt. 1794. He married in
Tazewell Co., VA in 1817, and appears on the Tazewell Census in 1820, but by 1830
he is in Marion Co., IN, and by 1850 he is in Camden Co., MO. I do not know
who his parents are, and would appreciate any information. I know that Daniel
had two wives, and 10 children by each wife, plus adopted a son. Yes, he had
21 children. I would think I would have many distant cousins connected to
this family. Known children by his first wife, Mary "Pollie" Matney are:
Fielden; Bethania, Sarah, and Amanda.
Suspected children by his first wife (but not proven) are: Minerva, Abagail,
and William C. Clark.
Known children by his second wife, Elizabeth Clark, are: John W. (adopted),
Lydia,
Delphia/Ophia, Susan, Daniel Jr., William R., Manerva, Cynthia, Mary Malinda,
Fredrick, and Charles.
Would appreciate any help from my VA Clark Cousins.

I would like to meet my great-great-grandfather Captain John R. Clark. He
was killed during the Civil War. He was in a Kansas regiment, and while
performing his duty as Officer of the Day, he was shot and killed by other
Union soldiers in a Missouri regiment. The official story is that he was
drunk and disorderly and was outside a home insisting that the women inside
fix him dinner. I have always thought this story was a little thin. What I
have been told really happened was that the Missouri soldiers were running a
house of prostitution at the house in question, and Captain was trying to
put a stop to it.
I would like to ask him what did happen.
I'm trying to trace James Clark born 1755 in Hampshire County WVA. I think
he may be the son of John Clark b. ca 1717 in Lenere, Ireland, but I can't
find any records linking them. Any one have any leads?
