Jane, et al: I have a copy of Prentiss Glazier's typewritten manuscipt
which I copied from the Salt Lake City LDS Library about 20 years ago.
This "manuscript" has numerous deletions and corrections written in ink
and is clearly listed as a "working manuscript" with somewhat of a
disclaimer that the information should be used only as an aid to
research on the CLARK family.
However, having said this, I have used this as a source for many
questions on the CLARK family and have seen this source cited by many
others. This apparently was a serious researcher/genealogist who I
believe had written extensively on genealogy. Her ancestor was Ebenezer
CLARK.
I did not bring my CLARK file down to Florida but will be returning to
Wisconsin next week and would be happy to post other quotes from this
manuscipt. As I recall he/she? tried separate CLARK names from CT to
some specific place location. I also recall that she cited Salter Clark
and the Dawes/Gates genealogy records and commented that there were
conflicts.
I believe I quoted this Salter Clark from some pages sent to me by
Elaine Child which provoked some discussion on the list.
I have not personally looked into any connection of Wm. CLARK to
Nicholas or John. It would be interesting to pursue if someone has
access to these records.

I just ran across a lengthy article in the January, 1974, [Vol 28, p 22] issue
of the New England Historical & Genealogical Register, Clarke - Clark
Families in Early Connection, by Prentice Glazier, that includes a short
paragraph on William CLARK of Haddam.
On page 25, it lists William, "probably a brother of John, Saybrook, &
Nicholas of Hartford". It also gives the following list of references. Has
anyone access to:
Americana, 36:478
Mary W. Ferris, op. cit., 2:206-9, and TAG 27:165, 170
Salter S. Clark, A Few Genealogical Item Connected with .. Ebenezer Clark,
1880 [a line from Middletown to Woodbury]
As mentioned earlier on the list, there is a record in the Records of the
Particular Court that Nicholas CLARK & William CLARK were involved in a
lawsuit in Hartford, 4 Sep 1643, as defendants in an action brought by Math.
ALLEN. But this is the first suggestion I've seen that they were brothers and
the first mention that there was a connection of any sort to John CLARK of
Saybrook. Has anyone else investigated these claims?
