Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
In Spamfighter, in the line just above the messages, there is a space called
"Block, unblock, more" When you click on "more" you get "white list,
blacklist." Click on "whitelist and you get "E-Mail address and Domain."
Click on White list after the person's name. I f I had your E-Mail address,
I would just highlight that and click on White-list. I only have Clark NY
for your addy so I could only Whitelist "Clark." Since I find I am not a
Clark but an Ó Cléirigh, I really don't belong but I thought I'd stay on and
pick up a few cousins on the way.

Dear Mailynn,
I am on the Clark line. Read your query with interest. The new PC vocabulary you used, leaves me with a question. What does "whitelist me" mean? Never heard that expression before, but there are a lot of things still new to me, since I am a novice!!

Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?

Emma,
I still wonder if your line of Clarks tie into my line? My Elias
Clark signed a pledge to support the Continental Congress in Goshen, ORANGE
County New York 1775. Signing with him were a John and a Moses Clark. Elias
and family migrated west across New York state living in Milton in then
Cayuga County which later became Genoa and finally Lansing (1817) in
Tompkins County. Later the family would live in Catharine in Tioga County
which later became part of Chemung County in 1836 and finally Schuyler
County in the 1850's. Two of Elias' offspring married into the Joshua Jay
family. Samuel Clark (1785-1871) married Ruth Jay and Margaret Clark(1796-
1871) married Jesse Jay. Ruth and Jesse had a bother named John Jay. Some of
this family also lived in Steuben County for a period of time. Elias died in
1845 in Chautauqua County. Elias' son Peter (1790-1857) (my line) moved into
Medina County Ohio around 1832 and finally migrated north and west into
Ionia County Michigan in 1849. The Schuyler County Genweb Site suggests that
an Elias Clark had preached in a Church in that county in the very early
1800's. The History of Ionia County Michigan 1891 indicates that Peter and
his wife Hannah Taylor Clark were members of the Baptist Church. Do you know
of any current day Clark males that are a descendant of yourJohn Clark's
line. If you do I have submitted my DNA to the Family Tree Maker Clark DNA
project. You can find this project at: www.htmlsd.com. I have three or four
other participants that are related to me several generations (15-20) but we
can't make the ties yet. Good luck
Dennis J. Clark

Good Evening Everyone,
I thought I would send my Clark NY brick wall just in case someone has any
ideas.
I am hunting information on
John Clark - b. abt 1779 - NY - d. June 1852 Illinois.
He married Anna Gibbs - daughter of Truman Gibbs and Anna Barnes. She was
born 8 May 1780 in Conn. and died 4 Feb 1860 in Oregon.
John Clark and Anna Gibbs are my great great great grandparents.
Although John Clark is said to have been born in New York, I am wondering if
he wasn't born and married in and around Litchfield Co., Conn. That is
where Anna Gibbs family was.
It is also possible that Anna's name was Hannah.
I have these children for John Clark and Anna Gibbs.
1. Orange Clark - b. 1795/1801 in NY - d. bef 1835. I am wondering based
on time and location if he died in the Black Hawk War in Illinois. Orange
Clark married Isabel Neely on 22 July 1824 in Clark Co., Ill.
2. Alvin Clark - b. 15 May 1805 NY and 25 Aug 1880 Clark Co., Washington.
He married 1st to Laura Gibbs on 30 Aug 1823 in Lawrence Co., Ill. 2nd
marriage to Mary Miller on 17 July 1850 in Mercer Co., Ill. and a 3rd marriage to
Efferiah Simpson.
3. Cynthia Clark - b. 1805/1810 NY - d. in Texas. Married William Harvey
Martin on 13 Dec 1821 in Lawrence Co., Ill.
4. Truman Gibbs Clark - b. 29 May 1806 in Broome Co., NY - d. 17 Aug 1880
in Johnson Co., Kansas. Married 1st to Elizabeth Long on 4 Aug 1833 in Fulton
Co., Ill. Married 2nd to Mary Gorseline on 21 Jan 1865 in Johnson Co.,
Kansas.
5. Naomi Clark - b. 1811/1820 NY - d. abt 1824 Ill
6. Samuel Clark - b. abt 1814 in NY or Ohio - d. abt 1880 Texas. Married
Isabel Neely Clark, widow of his brother Orange Clark, on 24 Sept 1835 in
Coles Co., Ill.
7. John J. Clark - b. 18 June 1815 Ohio - d. 24 Nov 1902 Clark Co.,
Washington. Married 1st Mary Rice on 22 Mar 1838 in Madison Co., Ill. Married 2nd
to Elizabeth Vanatta on 9 Dec 1852 in Mercer Co., Ill.
8. Rosetta Clark - b. 10 Apr 1818 Ohio - d. 27 June 1886 in Garfield Co.,
Washington. Married Ransom Long on 4 Aug 1833 in Fulton Co., Ill.
9. Cyrus Clark - b. 1811/1820. He just disappeared. Married Charity Hudson
on 19 July 1840 in Mercer Co., Ill.
John Clark and his family and the Benjamin Gibbs family left Broome Co., NY
in about 1813 and went down the Ohio River on a raft. They stopped in Ohio
for a few years and then on to Illinois.
I have a story written by Benjamin Gibbs daughter talking about their move
from NY to Ohio.
The obituary for John J. Clark, John Clark's son, describes his father as:
Rev. John Clark, his father, was a native of New York, and a pioneer Baptist
minister in borh Ohio and Illinois.
I have found the John Clark family in the 1820 census of Edwards Co., Ill,
the 1830 census of Fulton Co., Ill., and the 1840 census of Mercer Co., Ill.
However, I have not found them in the 1810 census in NY or the 1850 census.
I am totally stuck on identifying John Clark's parents so any assistance
greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Emma
