Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Good Morning Everyone,
I am sure that all of you are aware by now that the Rootsweb mail server had
problems this past weekend. No mail was delivered at all for a couple of
days. I would imagine also that your mail box now tells you that the problem has
been fixed and that mail is now coming through...<g>.
Sometimes I can alert you to problems with the lists but in some cases I
can't. This was one of those cases.
So.... here are a couple of URL's for you to use when mail isn't coming
through at all. Bookmark these addresses and save them to use in the future.
First.... the help desk site:
http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com
If you aren't receiving mail from rootsweb mail lists check this site.
Rootsweb staff will post information concerning any problems with the lists. It
is usually posted in yellow. They will also update the information as the
situation continues so if it goes on for very long you might want to check for
additional information.
Secondly.... password central:
http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/
You can go to this site and request a "list" of mail lists that you are
subscribed to.
AND... finally... if you aren't receiving mail from rootsweb lists please
don't send "test" messages to the list. That just means that when the problem is
solved and rootsweb starts sending out mail that has been qued everyone gets
a bunch of messages called "test"....<g>.
Instead, check with password central to make sure you are subscribed OR drop
me an e-mail and let me know you are having problems OR compose a query and
send that to the list. Who knows, that must might be the magic query that gets
you some response....<g>.
Hope all this helps and most of all, I hope all of you have a wonderful day.
Take care - Emma
