The death record of grand uncle Charlie has birth Jan 21, 1885, died Oct 12, 1954. Earlville, NY burial Earlville Cemetery Madison Co. Mother- Anna Guin, father- Charles A. Clark Sr.
This is new information, another source (written records of family friend handed down) gives Dec.23, 1882 as date of birth, death Oct. I2, 1954.
But all children of Anna and Charles were little. My grand mother was about 4 ft. 10 in. tall.

I am having quite a bit of trouble tracking down the parents and siblings
for my 2g-grandfather, Thomas M CLARK. He married Arminda "Minnie" STANTON
on 11 Dec 1881 in Milo, Yates Co, New York. Shortly after their wedding,
they moved to Clinton Co, Michigan. I have plenty of information on them
from this point on.
Here's what I do know from before that point.
Thomas M CLARK was born 1 Mar 1856, in Northern Ireland. Immigrated to US
on or about 20 October 1870. I have his naturalization papers dated 7 Sep
1880, giving his residence as Starkey, Yates, New York.
Thomas is on the 1880 census, but not living with parents. He is listed as
a hired man, living in the household of Gordon WOOD.
His obituary (Jan 1929) lists surviving siblings as "George CLARK, of
Dundee, New York and two sisters, Mrs. Eliza TERWILLIGER of Elmira, N.Y.,
and Mrs. Sidney SULLIVAN of San Juan, California." I found George, Eliza
(Lizzie), and Sidney on the 1880 census in Yates Co, but none are living
with parents. All are living in households of employers.
Thanks to the California Death Index, I found information on Sidney
Sullivan, and a copy of her death certificate proves that she is the right
one. This also gives me a maiden name for Thomas & Sidney's mother, PORTER.
1880 census of Yates Co, New York, show George & Mary Ann CLARK, born in
Ireland, ages 60 and 50 respectively, living with no children at home.
These are the best candidates I have found for being the parents I am
looking for. The same census also shows a John B CLARK living in the area.
This is probably the same John B CLARK that signed as a witness Thomas'
naturalization papers, he is 6 years Thomas' senior, so possibly a brother.
Does anyone on this list recognize any of the names that I have mentioned?
Can anyone suggest any other avenues to research? Any information would be
greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading,

Good Afternoon Everyone,
It has been a while since I send an "informational" message. Please accept
my apologies.
Since census records are so important to all of us I thought you might like
to take a look at these sites that contain links to census transcriptions.
USGenWeb Census Project
www.rootsweb.com/~census
This will get you to the main project page and you can then select to see the
lists of transcriptions. Follow the links to the state listings.
USGenWeb Census Project
Yep.... there are two of them. Each contains different transcriptions.

Follow the links to the state listings.
Or.... you can access both of these sites by going to:

Scroll down to Census Projects
You will find a link to both of the above sites.
And finally this one:
www.census-online.com/links/index.html
Provides links to on-line census records by state.
Hope some of you enjoy using some of these sites. If you have any others
please share them with the list as well.
Thanks and take care - Emma
Good Afternoon Everyone,
Just thought I would send an update on the status of the list.
At the present time there are 37 subscribers to the regular list and 25 to
the digest version. That is quite a good sized group.
I have temporarily changed the configuration of the list to moderate any sub
requests. This means that I will have to approve anyone attempting to
subscribe. This is not what I want to do because the goal is certainly to encourage
subscriptions. But, because of a temporary concern with a spammer who is
hitting the rootsweb lists I am doing this in an effort to protect the list from
this spammer. As soon as the concern is dealt with I will return the list to
regular subscriptions.
AND... finally, what will sound like a very strange request in light of the
current situation...<grin>, but, please encourage those you know working on
this surname to join the list. The more folks we have the more we can share.
Take care and I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.
Emma
Julia,
For what it is worth - Clark and Chesbro were both very common names in
New London County, Connecticut and surrounding areas. I think many of
them may have migrated to various locations in upstate New York.

Surely there must be some decedents of my Clark family, who came to Utica, via Co. Mayo Ireland in 1837. They had a big family and my grandfather and his brother moved to Watertown, NY. Am I the only one left (besides my immediate cousins)?
