Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Thank you all for replying so promptly to my query about where Clarksville
and Reedsville are. Someone said Albany. Sure enough, upon closer
inspection, I found a Clarksville and a Reidsville in Albany. And as an
added bonus, there's a Vorheesville nearby, which is another surname that
I'm researching. So thanks again.

In searching for my Clarks and Reeds, I've run across a Clarksville and a Reedsville. They're not on my map. Does anyone know where these towns are located?

Hello from Australia !
I thought it was about time I made myself known to
other CLARK/E listers since I was one of the early
subscribers
Had good intentions of posting a message soon
after I subscribed but................
I am interested in the descendants of a John D and
Mila P CLARK nee CARPENTER
John D was b Leyden NY about 1817 and was a
carpenter by trade . He married Mila P CARPENTER
at Guilford VT and they eventually settled in
Brockport, Monroe Co NY . Both eventually died
there in 1900 and 1902
They had 5 children . Some descendants still live
in the Brockport area and others around Los
Angeles CA but sadly none appear to be interested
in their families history
I dont know any more about John D CLARKE but have
a great deal of info on Mila's CARPENTER family
Her brother Edwin Reuben came to Australia c 1852
at the start of our gold rush
Any cousins out there ?
Bye

Good Evening Everyone,
Just thought you might like a update on the list. At the present time there
are 45 subscribers to the regular version and 26 subscribers to the digest
version of the mail list.
The last few weeks there have been some challenges in various systems
(rootsweb, various ISPs, etc) so I thought I would send these addresses for you to
have now and in the future.
First of all, if you think you might have bounced off some of the lists you
were on you can check your subscriptions by going to password central and
asking for list of your subscriptions.
The URL is:
http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/
Then, if you think you have missed some postings to any of the mail lists you
can check the archives for that mail list.
Go to this URL and enter the name of the mail list. You can then look at the
messages to the list by month.
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/
You can also search past messages for any mail list by going to this URL:
http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl
First enter the name of the list you want to search. You will then get a
screen and can search the messages by year.
If you are interested in finding out other rootsweb mail lists that might be
of interest then go to this URL.
http://lists.rootsweb.com/
And... finally.... census records. If you are hunting transcriptions of
census records then try these 3 sites:
This one has links for each state and then county:
http://www.census-online.com/links/index.html
Then there are two sites run by USGenWeb volunteers. Here is the address for
one of them:
http://www.us-census.org/
And here is the address for the other:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~census/
Hope this helps a bit.
Take care - Emma
