I found a substantial amount of information regarding these families by
doing some very basis research on the internet, in fact so much information
that I cant possibly add it all to this email without overwhelming the
mailing list, so I will share just the basis information regarding the
photographs in the album and hope that I find someone from the families so
that these photographs can be returned to their rightful place with family.
If you are a member of one of these related families, or know someone who
might be, please contact me.
Thanks,

Hello,
Over the summer, I heard from someone who told me that there was at least
one CLARK/E family which was a Loyalist family ! I'm sorry I don't have
that e-mail handy, but I believe I read that the family was from southern
New England and went to Nova Scotia.
As per my postings over the past few years, my "brick wall" * is a James
CLARK / E probably born in the 1780 to 1800 timeframe. I have no idea
where or when he was born, but my "guess" is that he was from a MA, RI, or
CT family. He married in Westport, MA, in 1829, and stated at that time
he had previously lived in nearby Little Compton, RI. (That town doesn't
seem to have any records on him.)
His wife, the widow, Mrs. Rhoda (MANCHESTER) LAVARE, was born in Westport,
MA, in 1800. That is why I am "guessing" James CLARK/E was born in the
1790 to 1800 timeframe.
Because of the e-mail I received this summer, I am now curious whether James
was part of a Loyalist family, and possibly was born in Nova Scotia or New
Brunswick. Then he might have come down to RI as an adult !
I have no idea whether his marriage in 1829 to Rhoda was his 1st or 2nd
marriage, and thus I have no idea whether he had any children during the
1820's ! James and Rhoda CLARK/E had one child, Mary Anna "Molly"
CLARK/E, born in Westport, MA, in 1836.
Thank you for your time.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
P.S. I have posted this query before, and have posted parts of the very
long story about this couple and their daughter many times before - on many
Lists. "Molly" CLARK married John DEXTER of Killingly, CT, ~1850 in CT,
and they had 3 daughters, with only one living to adulthood. In 1886,
John and "Molly" DEXTER moved from Killingly, CT, to Melrose, MA. In
1892, they adopted a little girl - who grew up to become my grandmother.
(My "hypothesis" is that their daughter in Killingly, CT, had an "unwanted
pregnancy" in 1888, and came up to Boston to deliver. So, that Mrs. Clara
(DEXTER) YOUNG was her birth-mother -- with an Unknown birth-father.)
* This James CLARK/E is more than a "brick wall." He is one of my
"solidly built, concrete-block walls, put together with reinforced cement."
:o)
FYI: One of the "clues" -- or not -- of this very dense, deep mystery
is that my grandmother's birth-name was Daisy WATROUS ! "No" birth
certificate exists for her anywhere ! I had her "adoption record" opened
a few years ago. At the adoption, she was re-named to: Mary Anna
Clark DEXTER !!
