Be my guest. Rhoda Tompkins Manchester Lavare married James Clark/e about
1829 and they had a daughter named Mary Anna Clark/e. We know absolutely
nothing about this man. Every so often you'll see a post by Betty
Fredericks about him.

Compton Families, Mary Tompkins, daughter of Micah Tompkins, was born April
14, 1763 and died October 1855. Married in Little Compton March 26, 1782 to
Gilbert Manchester, son of Thomas Manchester of Westport. The above Micah
Tompkins is a descendant of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins.

Manchester of Westport son of Thomas Manchester, and Mary Tompkins of Little
Compton daughter of Michel Tompkins, were lawfully joined together in
marriage on the fifth day of March 1782. Enos Gifford, Justice of the

daughter's death certificate) and she is a daughter of Mary and Capt.
Gilbert Manchester (from Rhoda's death certificate).

Arnold and William. Mary Manchester is age 92 in this census, making her
birth year 1763. Mary Manchester's death certificate shows her death as
October 15, 1755.

Manchester, sign a petition to have Nathan C Brownell appointed
administrator of the estate of Capt. Gilbert Manchester, deceased. Rhoda
and Otis describe themselves as siblings and Mary is their mother. (this is
only a hunch but I think Nathan is actually the Nathaniel Brownell who
married Mary's sister Sarah)

mentions sister Mary Manchester, widow, Arnold Levere son of Rhoda Levere,
widow, and then Rhoda Clark daughter of Gilbert Manchester, deceased.

Gilbert, whose dates match those of Mary Tompkins, wife of Gilbert
Manchester. You have a daughter with a middle name of Tompkins.

death certificate states she is the daughter of Gilbert Manchester and Mary.
I have never found a birth or death certificate for Gilbert Manchester. I
have no concrete proof that Rhoda is the daughter of Mary Tompkins. But I'd
say I have a pretty darned good preponderance of evidence that Rhoda is a
daughter of Mary Tompkins and Gilbert Manchester and therefore a Mayflower
descendant.
