Would anyone know anything about the Clark that was married to Hazel Bigley?
Hazel was the daughter of Clarence Bigley and Bertha Vaughn. Hazel died
before 1996. I have siblings for Hazel but no dates. The information I
have I got from the obituary of Lillian Bell Bigley Evers, Hazel's sister
that died in Jan of 1996. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you so much.
Ann

Co., Missouri.

This article was posted to the St. Francois Co., Missouri list. The poster
Bettye Warner has kindly given me to post it here. I hope it is of some
help to someone.

THE FAIR PLAY newspaper, Ste. Genevieve, MO, July 27, 1895:
Last Tuesday morning while Judge C. P. Clark was hauling straw on his farm
to fill up some washouts, his team ran away with him, and struck a tree with
such force that he was thrown forward against it, fracturing the outer bone
of the skull just above the right eye, and inflicting such internal injuries
that he will probably die. Dr. E. C. McCormick who went out to see him,
left there at 8 o'clock in the evening. He says the fracture is not very
dangerous, and that the Judge is conscious, but his internal injuries, in
the region of the liver, are such that little or no hope is entertained of
his recovery. His many friends throughout the county will hear with deep
concern of his unfortunate accident. --- Farmington Times.
THE FAIR PLAY Newspaper, Ste. Genevieve, MO, Aug. 3, 1895:
Last week we made a brief mention of the accident to Judge C. P. Clark, of
Libertyville, expressing the hope that it might not be so serious as then
believed. Unhappily that hope was destroyed by a completer knowledge. The
unfortunate man while driving a team of unruly horses was run away with and
in the final crash had his skull fractured, besides suffering severe
internal injury. The best medical aid proved fruitless, and death ensued
the succeeding Saturday. He passed away quietly and resigned to his fate.
Judge Clark was born in Perry County, September 15, 1838, removing with his
parents to St. Francois county in 1847, where he resided ever since. He
leaves a mother aged 86 years, and four brothers to mourn his departure.
Two of these latter are residents of Texas, one is a citizen of St.
Francois, and the fourth is Jas. [James] H. Clark, Register of the Land
Office in Ironton. Judge Clark was an estimable citizen, having more than
once been honored with public preferment, and his death is a great loss to
the community of which he was a member. ---Ironton Register.
