Hello Everyone,
I could use ANY help anyone can give on my line. My GGG Grandfather was
Dock (Franklin?) CLARK. He was b. 1853 -1854 in KY and d. 1880 Obion
Co., TN. He m. Hannah Adelade (Addie) STANLEY in January 01, 1876 in
Obion Co., TN. I think she was the dau. of Unknown STANLEY and Frances
UNKNOWN - Siblings were Frank Huey STANLEY (m. Susan BOITNOTT, Genie
STANLEY?, and Narcissus (Sis) STANLEY (m. Robert BREEDING?). Hannah
Adelade STANLEY m. Milton YOUNG, March 17, 1881in Obion Co., TN.
Dock (D. F.) and Addie STANLEY CLARK's known children were: Pre...? J.
CLARK, b. 1877 (hard to read census); (My Line) Daniel Hiram CLARK
(1878, Obion Co., TN-1961, Dyer Co., TN), m. Mattie Elizabeth SANDERS
1903 in Wickliffe, Ballard Co., KY; George F. CLARK, b. 1880, m. Bessie
PARTIN; Robert L. CLARK, b. October 1869 in TN, m. Nancy L. UNKNOWN abt.
1894 (had son Jobie (Jakie?) W. CLARK, b. 1898).
I believe that Dock (Franklin) CLARK was the son of Jacob CLARK, b. abt.
1810 (Barren Co., KY?) and Francis (Frona) W. HORTON. Here they are on
the Weakley Co., TN census:
1860, Weakley Co., TN, D2
Household 662
Clark, Jacob/43/Farmer/2500/1000/KY
Clark, Frances/43/TN
Clark, Parilee/16/TN
Clark, William/14/TN
Clark, Amanda/12/TN
Clark, Franklin/7/TN
Clark, Elizabeth/5/TN
Clark, David/3/TN
Francis (Frona) W. HORTON CLARK later apparently m. a MAYNARD / MAINOR /
MAYNOR, 1861-1864. We knew her as "Grandma MAINOR." She may have m. a
Constant H. HYNDS? after that. I think she was the dau. of John HORTON
and Elizabeth LASSWELL who were m. in Henderson Co., KY, 1813.
Thanks for your help!

Thanx for the welcome....I've been working on my Clark line for over 30
years...............
I joined the Tennessee Historical Society and the Roane Co, Tn Genealogical
Society
and have gotten a good chart back to Nathaniel....I even THINK I have his
father....
but haven't been able to prove it yet................Kentucky has proven to
be a problem
for me since I can't focus on a certain county yet.
Just thought someone on this list might recognize one of the siblings......
Joyce Clark Foster
Welcome Joyce! I'm relatively new to this list as well, although I have
subscribed to many others for over two years now. I have never heard of a
genealogy (or surname) list which confines its posts and queries to the time period
after the Civil War. In fact, the information most of us are searching for
is that going on back to the point of entry into America. So ask away . . .
I have one CLARK line in my ancestry: my GGGGgrandmother was Mildred
CLARK, who married Thomas BAILEY, in VA. Their daughter (my GGGgrandmother)
Sally BAILEY b. 1781, d. 1838, married William PENICK and they migrated into
KY (Casey Co. and Green Co.). I have never found any info on Mildred CLARK, so
can't be of any help to you, I fear.
If any lister reading this post has any info on the parents or
siblings of Mildred CLARK, please contact me. She must have been born around 1760
since the daughter was born 1781, and I presume she was born in VA.
Thanks!

Dear Listers,
As a former Kentuckian with CLARKs in his background, I thought I would
mention my lines and perhaps help some distant cousin.
I have two CLARK lines. One is the William and George Roger CLARK family:
Ann Nancy CLARK (1723) was a sister to John CLARK and an aunt of William and
George Rogers CLARK. She married a dashing young Scottish naval officer
named Torquil McLeod. She died at the birth of her daughter. Torquil
handed the baby to his in-laws and went back to sea and was never heard of
again. The baby was Ann Clark McLeod, niece and ward of her uncle John
Clark. She was actually raised by her grandmother, Elizabeth Wilson Clark.
Ann married about 1768 & Moved to Fairhope in KY in 1780. Her husband was
William Marshall, III. Their daughter, Ann Clark Marshall, married William
Samuell, Jr. on February 10,1800.
(The reason for following this line to the Samuells is that the Samuells are
descended from Giles Rogers of the ROGERS-CLARK mess.)
In Owen Co., KY in 1820 was born one of the many Lucinda SPARKS folks. Her
grandmother appears to have been Lucy CLARK(1762 in VA) who died in Owen Co.
(I think). Lucy CLARK's father was James (1837 in VA) and James' father was
William CLARK, Sr. (1705 in Caroline Co., VA).
I could find no connection between these two lines of CLARKs but I have a
note someone wrote about 1900 that says they called each other 'cousin'.
May have been a friendly title and not a statement of fact.
Tom
I'm trying to find others who might connect to my ggggg grandfather Benjamin
CLARKE / CLARK b. abt. 1734 m. ??. Sons of Benjamin CLARKE/ CLARK that I know
of were;
Nathaniel b. abt. 1755
John b. abt. 1760 m. Selah / Celia HARRIS ..... my gggg grandparents
Jesse
James
Davis
Joseph
My Clark's lived along Cox's Creek, and in Bullitt County, Ky.. I'd love to
hear from anyone connecting to this line.
Thanks
Jude
I am not related to this Clark family but I do have a George W. Clark in
my files who was born abt. 1825. His parents were John Bailey Clark and
Mary McDonald Clark who were married in Cabel Co., VA. Junae 25, 1821.
When did West Virginia split off from VA? John and Mary were from
Montgomery Co., VA. George W. Clark married Louemma McDonald. I have no
other information.
Best Regards,
Jim

Greetings list members!
I would like to welcome you all to the CLARK-KY
surname list! I hope that you all will have great
success in making some connections to others working
on similar lines.
If you have any problems or questions regarding the
list, rules & guidelines or subscriptions please first
check our CLARK-KY List home page

To contact me write:

If you would like to post your queries, success
stories or brick walls, please do so. A good formula
for your subject line
is a NAME, PLACE/TOWN/COUNTY in KENTUCKY and a time
frame if possible.
Please
also limit your signature lines to no more than 4
lines and please do not include a list of surnames in
it as this causes problems with the Rootsweb
search engine.
You are welcome to mention Collateral surnames that
directly link to your KENTUCKY CLARK'S/CLARKE'S, etc.
as long as it is part of your actual query. I am happy
that you have chosen to become a part of this list and
look forward to healthy participation from all when
you feel ready.
Lurkers are also welcome here! <grin> Of course we
hope that you will post something eventually. It is a
great idea to try and post something at least once
a month. Share obits, will extracts, related web
sites, ancestral stories on your CLARK/CLARKE lines,
etc.
Again welcome and have fun finding new cousins!

Dear Clark researchers,
I'm searching for the Charles Clark age 70 that appears on 1860
Census in Grayson County, Ky visiting his son John Clark.
This Charles Clark does not live in Grayson County, KY nor was he on
the 1850 Census of Grayson County, KY.
I need to find out where he came from, Probably somewhere in
Kentucky, Possibly Breckinridge County, KY.
I checked 1820 Census and there is one Charles Clark in Breckinridge
County, KY and 3 in Henry County, KY.
I don't know of any of my clark's coming from Henry County, Ky, but
need to find on 1850 Census this Charles Clark wherever he might be.
Thanks in advance.
