My Illinois Clarks originally migrated from Milford, CT - if any of your Clark ancestors are descended from the Milford, CT Clarks (especially Deacon George, but also from Farmer George or others) - the Platt Family Association is issuing an open invitation to all their Clark 'cousins' to join them at their annual reunion this year. If you're interested, please contact me off-list at lkender(a)yahoo.com.
I received the following email from Dick Platt (who is the town historian of Milford and also a Deacon George Clark descendant):
"I've probably had more Clark inquiries during the past year than any other, so this led me to wonder if there was interest in a reunion of Clarks. We will be having our annual Platt Family Reunion on 14 July at the Milford Yacht Club, and if there is enough interest in a Clark get-together, I'd like to invite you. Our speaker probably will be Ruth Shapleigh Brown of the Connecticut Gravestone Network, and she has an interesting talk on gravestone carvers and their styles."
"I understand that there once was, and may be still, a Clark Family Organization, founded in 1901. They had reunions, I think, mostly in the West rather than here. If any of you happen to know if this group still exists, perhaps we can really get something going."
"Please pass this on to others of your family who you think may be interested. "
I hope this notice isn't inappropriate to the list - if so, my apologies in advance.
Thanks -
