Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Good Evening Everyone,
Well... AOL users are still not getting all the mail although bits and
pieces are making it through. So... although I can send you this message I can't
read any replies at this point in time. Again... if you need me please send
the message to enc6(a)aol.com.
In the meantime, I thought I might remind you of something of possible
interest. I am sure that all of you are familiar with www.google.com and using
that site for searching various topics.
But google also offers another free service - news alerts. You can define
the topics you are interested in and google will automatically send notice of
newspaper articles on that topic to your inbox.
I have google news alerts set for my main surnames (I wouldn't recommend it
for Smith...<g>) and a few other topics of interest including the topic
"genealogy".
You might like to experiment with setting some google news alerts. You can
always cancel them if you decide they aren't of value.
Just to give you a couple of examples.... Here are a couple of articles
recently received under my "genealogy" google news alert.
This first one talks a bit about different forms of money used at various
times in our history.

Good Morning Everyone,
Have just been notified that the mail lists will be down for a while for a
server change.
During this time, mail will not come through. I am including the message
from the help desk site below.
Now... hopefully everything will go smoothly. But... we have all dealt with
computers enough to know that sometimes surprises do happen. So... if it
lasts longer or if anything goes wrong I won't be able to notify you with any
additional information. Nor will you be able to contact me through the admin
mail address (_listname-admin(a)rootsweb.com_
(mailto:listname-admin@rootsweb.com) ).
However, you can check the helpdesk site for updates.
Just go to:
_www.rootsweb.com_ (http://www.rootsweb.com)
In the upper right hand corner click on help.
You will be able to read any updated message concerning the move there.
Below is the message appearing there at this time concerning the move.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at my regular
address at _enc6(a)aol.com_ (mailto:enc6@aol.com) .
Take care - Emma
