We recently had a reunion of Elisha B. Clark's descendants. He is
indeed our brick wall. From census info, he was b. about 1804 someplace
in OH. He m. Sarah ( Sally ) Jones 20 Feb 1824 in Daviess Co. IN. His
middle name may have been Bomen, as I found a land grant, in Posey Co.
IN for Elisha Bomen Clark about 1839. Sally's parents were Ebenezer
Jones and Mary Roden Jones. They lived in the vicinity of Washington,
Daviess Co. IN.
Sometime after 1830 Elisha and Sarah moved to Posey Co. IN. By the 1860
census they were in Franklin Co. IL.
Their probable family was:
Augustine Elisha Clark b. about 1824/5, m. Lydia Crabtree 1st in Posey
Co. IN, 2nd Annie ( Wheeler ) Couch in Grundy Co. MO.
Wiley R. Clark b. about 1825, m. Esther Welch in Posey Co. IN. At least
one child William b. 1859 in KY. 1860 census were in Franklin Co. IL. 2
nieces Bica and Sarah were with Wiley and Esther. My dad said HIS
father had cousin named Bica or Bisha.
Anna Mariah called Mary, b. before 1830, Daviess Co. IN. m. Isaac
Miller, 22 May 1845, had Virginia, Alethia ?, and Aaron Miller. Aaron
Miller m. Ruth Amelia Jones, a relative of his grandmother, Sally Jones
Clark. No record I can find of Isaac Miller being mustered out of civil
war.
Susannah Clark b. before 1830 m. Elijah Barton in Posey Co. IN 22 May
1845. Can't find this couple on census so far. My dad said he had an
aunt Susannah, also thought he was related to a Barker family, then he
changed it to Barton. He related his ancestry from memory to me. We
never wrote it down.
Thomas Clark b. about 1829. Haven't found him since 1850 census in
Posey Co. IN.
James Clark b. about 1832. May have been the James Clark who died at
Murfreesburg/Murfeesburg? TN in the Civil War. Enlisted Franklin Co.
IL.
Robert Clark b. about 1834, m. Miranda Love 17 Oct 1858, Posey Co. IN.
They are the parents of Bica and they lived in Franklin Co. IL in 1860.
Francis Clark b. about 1838, probably in Posey Co. IN. He joined the
service in Franklin Co. IL and died at St Louis MO. I have his muster
records from the Civil war, he was from Posey Co. IN. I feel sure this
is our Francis M. Clark as my dad said his grandfather had 3 brothers
who died in the Civil war.
Westly/Wesley Clark b. about 1838 in Posey Co. IN. I have found a
Wesley in Franklin Co. IL with Martha and some children. He was living
with his parents there on the 1860 census and age 18.
Phoebe/Pheba C. Clark was about 10 on the 1850 Posey Co. IN census. Not
with her parents in IL in 1860. I found a Phoebe C. Clark m. to Perry
Long in Posey Co. IN 25 March 1858. LDS site has Perry Long died 1865.
He was on the General Lyon I think that sunk on the way home from war.
Phoebe d. a few months later. At least one child, George Long. Elisha
B. Clark was appointed guardian for George Long according to the IL
archives.
Other family names I remember my dad mentioning are Shadrack and Squire
or Elder. I'm not sure which, I remember thinking it was a title and he
said no that was his name. Also I think Keziah. He said they lived in
Coshokton for awhile and Goochland. I have been associating those place
names with OH and VA but it could have been anyplace.
Any help and advice is appreciated. Thanks!
My gr.gr.grandfather was a Thomas Clark. The family moved to Al and My gr.
grandfather was born 1867. His name was D. Sherman Clark. I have searched
for any clue of where he may have gone when he left my gr, grandmother in Al
We heard he went to Tn and then to Ark. The Thomas may have been my Gr.gr.
grandfather. Frances

I would like to have a heart-to-heart conversation with James McCullen
Gordon HUTCHINSON, who immigrated from Antrim, Ireland in 1811, at age 21. I want
to know how he got here and where in Antrim he came from. I want to know
his parents names and whether he had any siblings and how he managed to get
married so quickly after arriving in Patterson, NJ. I want to know where his
children were born in Greens township, OH and how he choose to finally settle
in Biggsville, IL. He managed very well for a 21-yr old and now has hundreds
of descendents, including 160+ that I have in my tree with the surname of
HUTCHINSON.
Bettye in Austin, TX
I have been searching for D. Sherman Clark for many years. He was born 1867
in Morgan cty. Al. He married my gr. grandmother Chelsey Raley Clark. They
had three children who were Arthur, Delia and Gertrude.
He might have been called Samuel. He went to the field to work one day and
didn't return. His sister told the family he was in Tn. A brother whose name
was Jeff told he was in Arkansas.
Someone else said before he died when he was old he moved to Tx. That is
where my family thought his family came from.
This is a brick wall for sure. According to his family he married another
woman who had been married and had children. Frances

Good Evening Everyone,
I thought you might be interested in an update on the list.
At the present time there are 30 subscribers to the regular version and 15
subscribers to the digest version.
It has been a rather quiet summer on the lists this year. I guess everyone
is busy swimming, mowing grass, etc. Or, perhaps like me, you have been
attending family reunions. I just returned from ours this week.
And.... the reunion started me thinking. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be
able
to attend a "reunion" with some of those brick walls we have and find out
that all important bit of information we need.
So..... how about posting your "reunion wish". Who would you like to have a
reunion with and what would you like to learn from them?
Just a reminder - make sure you change the subject line to reflect your
message.
Also.... if you know of others working on this same surname then invite them
to join us on the list and share their "reunion wish" as well.
Take care and have a wonderful week.
Emma
