Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
My grandfather, Lloyd A. Clark, was born in Knoxville, IL, in 1894. His
mother was Laura Elnora Stegall, born 1873, also of Knox County. His father was
Abraham Clark. I have found information about the Stegalls, but have never
found a thing on Abraham Clark. Laura later married Joseph Buck and listed that
as her first marriage. I do know that my grandfather ran away to his father's
parents' home in Missouri when he was a teenager. Does anyone know anything
about Abraham Clark? I've been stymied for years! Thank you.
Good Afternoon Everyone,
It has been a while since I send an "informational" message. Please accept
my apologies.
Since census records are so important to all of us I thought you might like
to take a look at these sites that contain links to census transcriptions.
USGenWeb Census Project
www.rootsweb.com/~census
This will get you to the main project page and you can then select to see the
lists of transcriptions. Follow the links to the state listings.
USGenWeb Census Project
Yep.... there are two of them. Each contains different transcriptions.
www.USGenNet.org
Scroll down under
"Private Domain Websites Hosted by USGenNet"
click on
USGenWeb Census Project
Follow the links to the state listings.
Or.... you can access both of these sites by going to:
www.usgenweb.org
Scroll down to Census Projects
You will find a link to both of the above sites.
And finally this one:
www.census-online.com/links/index.html
Provides links to on-line census records by state.
Hope some of you enjoy using some of these sites. If you have any others
please share them with the list as well.
Thanks and take care - Emma
Good Afternoon Everyone,
Just thought I would send an update on the status of the list.
At the present time there are 16 subscribers to the regular list and 13 to
the digest version.
I have temporarily changed the configuration of the list to moderate any sub
requests. This means that I will have to approve anyone attempting to
subscribe. This is not what I want to do because the goal is certainly to encourage
subscriptions. But, because of a temporary concern with a spammer who is
hitting the rootsweb lists I am doing this in an effort to protect the list from
this spammer. As soon as the concern is dealt with I will return the list to
regular subscriptions.
AND... finally, what will sound like a very strange request in light of the
current situation...<grin>, but, please encourage those you know working on
this surname to join the list. The more folks we have the more we can share.
Take care and I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.
Emma
