Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I have very little information on my Clark brick wall.
My great grandfather, William Henry Clark, was born in Woodstock,
Ontario, Canada in 1853. His parents were Martin and Dena (Bennett)
Clark. Martin and Dena Clark moved from Woodstock to the Beaver Dam,
Dodge county, Wisconsin, USA area while William was an infant. Which I
figure was in either 1853 or early 1854. Later Dena moved to Brandon,
Fond du Lac county, Wisconsin. Nothing about what happened to
Martin....or why she moved alone.
The oral history I have been given about my great grandfather, William
Henry Clark, is that he had a sister, Grace, and that they were orphans.
I do not know if Grace is his full sister or a half sister. I have been
attempting to break down this wall but only have assumptions thus far.
I assume that Martin died during the civil war, but have not been able
to prove that.
I assume that Dena remarried and may have then given birth to Grace.
William lived with two different families...one named Johnson and one
named Christie while he was a young man.
William moved to Tomah, Monroe county, Wisconsin as a young man and
married Mary Adelia Braman.
Grace married John Hazen and they lived in Stevens Point, WI. and later
Duluth, Minnesota.
Any help with William, Martin or Dena (Bennett) Clark would be greatly
appreciated. William was a blacksmith in Tomah, Monroe county,
Wisconsin...I do not know what Martin's occupation was.

Hi, I'm looking for a connection to this Moses Clarke to Stonington, CT or in
RI, USA. The family (wife Mary and children: Lydia, Esther, Moses Jr.,
Aaron, Mary, Hannah and Sarah) emigrated to Horton, Kings County, NS ca 1761.
About 1767/8 they went on to Yarmouth, NS and appear in the 1773 census
there. Lydia married Samuel Hersey in Yarmouth and both families emigrated
to Gage Town, NB about 1775/6.
Daughter Mary married a Nevers.
Daughter Esther married Allen Price.
Daughter Sarah married John DeLong
Daughter Hannah married a Kimble (Kimball)
Son Moses jr. married Deborah Esterbrooks
After the Loyalists arrived, both Moses and Samuel lost their land and had to
apply for grants; both obtained them in Queens County, NB.
If this Moses is the one from Stonington, he descends from Jonas Clarke of
Cambridge, MA, who was the ruling elder of the church there.
Would love to hear from someone who might also be searching this family.

A notice on RootsWeb about the new Clark-Canada list reminded me of some CLARK cousins in my family tree through the marriage of my Mary Jane HARRIS to John CLARK. All I have is the given names of their children and was told Mary Jane was born in Haliburton and died in Kansas. If these or any related families in the surname database in my webpages are familiar I would be happy to share information.

'Lo all:
A very big welcome to all of you who have recently subscribed.
I find the general Clarke-L list extremely interesting, however, since the
postings were mainly American, unhelpful genealogically. Therefore,
Clark-Canada-L! We will be covering all provinces in search of your
Clark/Clarke (does anyone know any other abbreviations?) ancestors.
So, I am inviting all of you to post your Canadian Clark/Clarke queries/brick
walls/questions/sources/etc. immediately. If you have any questions or
comments pertaining to Canadian research resources, local history, family
queries, links, etc., please do not hesitate to post them also! You'll find
that my attitude towards administration is pretty lax - just about anything
goes (with a dose of common sense). I've never been one for lists of rules
(probably comes from having a faulty memory - I just forget them! ;-)
For those of you who are new to Canadian research, probably one of the best
sites to start out at (though, by all means, not the only one!) is the
CanadaGenWeb <http://www.rootsweb.com/~canwgw/>. Like it's American
counterpart, it is separated by province and thence by county/district. Some
county/district pages are even further separated by township/city. There are
various projects continually in progress, such as the census transcription
one in Ontario - their eventual aim is to get all Ontario census
transcriptions (indexes) on the 'net.
As for your list admin (me!), my general genealogical research concentrates
mainly in the Ottawa valley region of Ontario, especially in the triangle of
Renfrew, Lanark, and Carleton counties. Though I seem to have branches
sprouting up all over the country! As a gen X'er (ol' 23rd bday's coming up
;-) I am one of the younger members of our large community of family history
addicts, but have, since starting my research a little over 2 1/2 years ago,
taken to it like a duck to water!
Again, welcome, and we all hope to hear about your Clark(e)'s in the near
future!
Ádh mór! (Cheers!)
Gwen,
