Hello David,
I hope you got my note giving the baptismal dates.
As for 1841, there was a William Claringboul age 78 living at Trapham
Farm, Wingham. With him in the dwelling was Sarah (also Clarinboul) age 69
and William Deverson age 58.. Both men were described as Ag Labs. The last
letter of William's surname is unclear but most probably is an "l" Sarah's
surname was marked as "D'o" or Ditto, and there is every likelihood that she
was William's wife
It seems that your information on William Claringbold's death has come from
the GRO Index. or from one of its transcribed versions. In which case the
"Eastry" referred is the name of the Registration District not the parish,
Eastry Reg'n Dist. included 26 neighbouring parishes. If you suspect that
this William is the same as the Wingham William mentioned above and that
they are both yours, then instead of buying the certificate you could
search Wingham PRs for his burial. But you are unlikely to get as much
detail from that entry as from the death certificate.
Best wishes,
JIm Halsey

Does anyone on the list have access to the 1841 census? I am looking for
William Claringbold/bowl/bole/bould/etc, and his wife Sarah in east Kent.
William was born in Wingham abt. 1769 and Sarah was born in Ewell btwn
1768-1772.
Also, there is a William Claringbold recorded as deceased in Eastry in the
March quarter of 1844. I wonder if anyone has that record and could supply
the information contained therein.
Thanks,

Jim:
Yes, I refer to Wickhambreaux. My Abraham appears to have begun as a
Claringbold, and ended up as a Claringbowl. He was born 1796 in
Wickhambreaux, and died 06 May 1874 in Finglesham, Northbourne Parish. He
married Elizabeth ROLFE 14 October 1822 in Northbourne, Kent. She was born
1792, and died 09 September 1843 in Finglesham, Kent, England. Abraham
and Elizabeth are buried in the cemetery at Northbourne Parish Church. He
later married Jane CLARINGBOLD (first cousin) 25 January 1862 in
Northbourne, Kent, daughter of Abraham CLARINGBOLD and Elizabeth JOLIE .
She was born 01 December 1805 in Littlebourne, Kent, and died 24 December
1893 in 5, Ladywell, Charlton, Dover.
Abraham (1796) was the son of William CLARINGBOLD, who was born 07 November
1769 in Wingham, Kent, England, and died bef. 1851. He married Sarah
DEVESON 28 January 1794 in Wickhambreaux, Kent, England, daughter of Richard
DEVESON and Sarah FORD. She was born Bet. 1768 - 1772 in Ewell, Kent,
England, and died 27 September 1861 in Finglesham, Northbourne, Kent,
England. She is also buried in the cemetery at Northbourne Parish Church.
I believe William was the son of Abraham CLARINGBOLD, who was born 27 May
1739 in Westbere, Kent, and died 25 August 1785 in Westbere, Kent. He
married Sarah Harrison 14 June 1767 in Westbere, Kent, daughter of Moses
Harrison.
We visited the cemetery at Wickhambreaux last year, but did not see any
Claringbold monuments.
I have the line coming forward from Abraham (1796) up till 1914 (excluding
my own family of course), but I don't go any farther back than I have here
at this time.

My line of Claringboulds became CLARINGBOWL in the early 1800s. They came
from Wickham, then Finglesham (Northbourne), Kent, with the last CLARINGBOWL
that I have traced being Arthur, born 1881 in Hastings, married 1914 in
Reigate.
Interested in all records, and any connections.
