To all to whom these presents shall come or in any wise concern,
Greetings, Know Ye that I, Thomas Clare of the County of Pulaski and State of
Kentucky as Administrator of the Estate of my brother, Francis Clare,
deceased, for diverse good causes and considerations, have and by these
presents doth hereby nominate, ordain, constitute and appoint my friend James
Davidson of the County of Lincoln and State aforesaid my true and lawful
Attorney in Fact for me and in my name as Administrator of the Estate of
Francis Clare, deceased aforesaid, to attend and draw the amount I as
Administrator of the Estate of my deceased brother Francis Clare, who fell in
the service of the United States in The Battle At The River Thames, as one of
the mounted volunteer commanded by Col. Richard M. Johnston in Captain James
Davidson's Company, may be entitled to draw for the horse that was killed of
said Francis Clare's in said Battle at the place aforesaid, and I do hereby
authorize my said Attorney in Fact, James Davidson, to demand of the proper
authority pay for the horse killed as aforesaid, and to receipt for the same
when received, and to do all other necessary acts and things in and about the
business aforesaid, which may be deemed necessary hereby ratifying and
confirming every act and deed of my said attorney in the premises aforesaid,
as fully, completely and effectively to all intents and purposes as if I were
to do and transact the same in my own proper name and person as the
Administrator of said Francis Clare, deceased.
In Testimony Whereof, I as Administrator of the Estate of said decadent,
have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 15th day of September in
the year 1815.

being the lots known by the numbers 10 & 12, with the bounds as designated

To Have and To Hold the aforesaid two lots of ground with the advantages,
rights, privileges and immunities belonging thereunto, and the aforesaid

Benjamin Kesler, Heirs and Representatives of Francis Clare, deceased, do
warrant and defend the aforesaid two lots of ground with their appurtenances

Francis Clare
At a County Court held for Pulaski County, at the Courthouse thereof in the
Town of Somerset, on Monday the 20th day of November A.D. 1826, this Bond
from Francis Clare to Tunstall Quarles Jr., was exhibited to the Court and
proven to the satisfaction of the Court to be the act and deed of the said
Francis Clare, and ordered to be recorded, and the same is done accordingly.

stake, thence S23 E116 poles to the old line of 200 acres, thence with the
same S67 W22 poles to corner No.2, thence with a line of the same N23 W116
poles to the beginning (it being lot #3). To have and to hold the sand tract
or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Daniel Clare and his
heirs forever, the said Asa Dodson attorney as aforesaid do warrant and
forever defend the said fifteen acres of land from the claim or claims of all

Main Street opposite the North end of the Courthouse of said Town and known
and designated on the Platt of said Town by Lots Numbers 43 and 53 being the
same now in the occupancy of the said Caldwell Stewart and whereon Doctor
Galen R. Elliott formerly lived.
To Have and To Hold the said two lots ground above described together with
all land singular the appurtenances, and improvements thereunto belonging
unto the said Caldwell Stewart his heirs or assigns forever. And the said

I, William Fox, Clerk of the County Court, Holder (?) for the County
aforesaid, do hereby certify that the foregoing indenture of bargain and sale
from Thomas Clare and Anna his wife, Allen Clare and Leah his wife, and
Daniel Clare and Jane his wife, three of the heirs of Francis Clare,
Deceased, to Caldwell Stewart was produced to me in my office of Clerk of
the Court aforesaid on the 27th day of August, A.D. 1825. The said indenture
was acknowledged by Daniel Clare and Jane his wife to be their act and deed,
she the said Jane being by me first privily examined separate and apart from
her said husband as the law directs, declared that she freely and voluntarily
relinquished her right of dowry to the lots of ground and said indenture
mentioned, afterwards (word unknown) on the 3rd day of September A.D. 1825,
the said indenture was acknowledged by the said (remainder missing)
I hereby assign and transfer the benefit of and judgment I obtained in the
Pulaski County Court in my name against Benjamin Black for the sum of ninety
dollars together with interest thereon from 28th day of August, 1820 until
paid from and seven dollars hereby twenty four and one half cents costs
thereon to Hugh Logan which judgment, interest and costs aforesaid, I
transfer as aforesaid to said Hugh Logan without any recourse on me or my
heirs either in law or equity it being fully understood between myself and
said Logan at the time of contracting in relation to said judgment that he
the said Logan took upon himself and discharged me from liability whether
said judgment and on any part thereof was ever made, and said Logan to pay
all costs to the officers that may hereafter accuse and I do authorize the
Clerk of the Pulaski Circuit Court to issue an Exonerating Execution in my
name on said judgment on the application of the said Logan, and endorse the
same for him the said Logan benefit and I hereby authorize said Logan to make
use of my name in any lawful way, to collect the amount of the judgment of
said Black or by motion against the officer who may collect the amount upon
refusal to pay the same owed to said Logan as any part thereof. This 2nd day

This Deed made this 4th day of September, 1855, between Benjamin F. New and
Elizabeth Pew, late Clare and Francis Clare & Clarison (?), his wife, of
Rockcastle Co., Kentucky, and Shelby Clare of Pulaski Co., Kentucky, and
Benjamin F. New agent and attorney in fact for Daniel A. Clare of Missouri of
the one part and William N. Cox of the second part of Pulaski Co., Kentucky,
Witnesseth,
That for and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars in hand paid to
each of the heirs aforesaid and agent, they have this day bargained, sold and
conveyed and do by these presents sell, convey and confirm unto said William
N. Cox and his heirs forever their undivided interest being one fifteenth
each, except said Daniel A. Clare who owns four fifteenths, or four shares,
one share in his own right and the shares of his brothers John D., Abraham
M., and George Clare, who by said Benjamin F. New, sells and conveys said
four shares in and to the lands in Pulaski County, Kentucky, which descended
to them as the heirs and legal representatives of Thomas Clare, deceased, (to
wit, their undivided interest as heirs aforesaid) to a tract of land conveyed
by Charles Neal to said Thomas Clare containing by survey one hundred and
fifty acres be the same more or less - also the tract conveyed to said Clare
by Jesse Wommick containing 10 acres be the same more or less - also another
tract patented to said Thomas Clare - containing 50 acres be the same more or
less, all situate in Pulaski Co., Kentucky, on the waters of Flat Lick Creek
on which said land said Thomas Clare lived at the time of his death, to the
deeds and patent of said Thomas Clare, deceased, preference is had for the
boundary of said several tracts of land. The said William P. Cox to have and
to hold said several interests in said lands to himself and his heirs forever
and said Benjamin F. New and Elizabeth his wife, Francis Clare and Clarrison
his wife, Shelby Clare and Benjamin F. New attorney as aforesaid, heirs at
law and legal representatives as aforesaid, agree to warrant and forever
defend the title to their interest to said tract of land to said William P.
Cox and his heirs against he claim of themselves and their heirs and against
all other claims whatsoever.
