Just a quick Hi to all the other Clare seekers espicially all those in
America & other parts a long way from the UK.
The business of County Clare causes all sorts of hassle esp. if you search
on the web for Clare's, not only County Clare but various religious churches
etc St. Clare. That said there is a lot of info floating around the web so
keep looking.

I am researching Dennis CALLINAN (county of origin unknown), born 1791 in
Ireland.
Family oral history said he came from Cork, but I can find no trace of him
there.
Wife Catherine (maiden name MURRY?) born 1805. They immigrated 1834/36 to
Boston, lived there a few years before going on to Oakland County, Michigan,
and buying 120 acres in 1838 in Highland Township, Cooley Lake Rd.
They raised 8 children there - Hannah, Jeremiah, John, Catharine, Mary,
Johanna, Dennis and Margaret. Dennis shortened his name to CALLAN very soon
after arrival. Dennis died in 1850, Catherine in 1855, and they are buried
in St. Patrick's pioneer cemetery at Union Lake, MI.
Tobias William BOYLE married Hannah around 1860, and gave rise to a dynasty
of BOYLES in Oakland County. Any tie-ins?
Hopefully, Mary Hosteny
