Hi Donna,
I have a John Wesley CLARDY, in my database from Tennessee. DOB is 1824. Record of only one child named Ettie. She did die in Christian County, Kentucky. I do not have her marrying or having any children, but she could have had a son that carried on the CLARDY surname.

could be a connection of sorts.

A Merry Christmas to Clardy's indeed! While at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, and while researching my mothers Allens of Essex Co VA and surrounding counties. I am looking in the Caroline Co VA Order Bks and what do I find....A one liner on pg 71,of Order Bk 1746-1748 (Part One)abstracted by John F. Dorman. "Charles SWILLIVENT and Mary his wife acknowledged their deed to Benj. CLARDY.". Do you all realize what this is? THE first record of ANY Clardy before Amelia Co, before 1750's. This record is confirmation that Benjamin and Milly Clardy DID live in Caroline CO VA before Amelia. This record was recorded 9 Oct 1747! The Charles Swillivent is actually a SULLIVAN I discovered. Benj. & Milly bought land from Charles.
And not to be overlooked is yet another Caroline Co record for us. Order BK 1746-1754 FHL #975.5362P2d vol.7, states on 20 December 1750...p 240, "Benj. CLARDY and Milly his wife deed and livery and seizing indented to Thomas WILD, Gent. was proved by David Quarles, Chs. Bosher and Melche Brame, witnesses thereto." This land was sold to Mr. Wild and the Clardy's may have made their way to Amelia from here.
While pursuing the records of Caroline (a Burned county) I am encouraged that I am seeing many families that are familiar to us. It really shows westward movement of these families.
I'm so blasted excited that I promise to update and revamp my website in 2014.
MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FELLOW RESEARCHERS.
