Sorry, the excerpt above was from the probate file of Margaret Clardy, not Robert Montgomery. I do however have his probate file too from MS in which she is mentioned. Jeannette

A lot of folks on the internet have our Elliott mixed up with the older one who md Nancy Ferris and even include all of our line' s children included with theirs. The above document is in conjunction with the probating of Robert Montgomery's estate in MS. Robert was Nancy Harriett's greatuncle and brother to her grandfather John Montgomery.

Thanks. I would love to exchange information.
Samuel Marion Clardy's son was James R. Clardy, born about 1850. James R. Clardy married Nancy Ann Coleman, daughter of William Coleman and Jane Vaughn. James R. Clardy was my great-great grandfather.

I haven't really researched Samuel Marion, but I do have him listed as a son of Eliott and Margaret. I'll see what I can find now with the information you have given me. Would you like to have what documents I do have and a picture of sister Nancy Harriett's grave? Jeannette

I believe descend from Elliot Clardy born about 1800 in SC and lived in Georgia (married Margaret Farris) through their son Samuel Marion Clardy born about 1827. I have found Samuel in 1850 in Cherokee county, Alabama with his new wife, Francis. However, I could not find them again on the 1860 census BUT I did find Samuel Clardy born in Georgia about 1827 as an inmate in the Alabama State Penitentiary - incarcerated 1858 for "bigamy and horse stealing." Do you know anything of Elliot's son, Samuel?
Thanks.

Does anyone know the relationship between these two Elliot Clardys? One was born about 1760 and died 1846 in Greenville, South Carolina - wife Nancy. The other was born about 1800 and was found on censuses beginning 1830 in Georgia, first wife died before 1840 then he married Sandul(?). Also, does anyone know of Samuel Clardy born in Georgia about 1827 who was an inmate in the Alabama State Penitentiary in 1860 for "bigamy and horse stealing?"
Thanks.

My husband also descends from this Clardy line. His gggrandfather William Crow md Nancy Harriett Clardy. Her father was the younger Elliott Clardy from SC who md Margaret Faris. This Elliott moved from SC to Habersham Co GA to Rabun Co GA to Walker Co GA to Gordon Co GA where he is last found in 1860 with his second wife. There was another slightly older Elliott Clardy who stayed in the Greenville area of SC. He was related to ours somehow and married Nancy Faris, sister to our Margaret Faris. It's really funny as their father William Faris is living next to one of the Elliots on one census and then next to the other one on the next one. Our Elliott is supposed to have been the son of a John B Clardy. His daughter Nancy Harriett b ca 1822 md William Crow b ca 1810 ca 1835. We have a probate record for a Robert Montgomery who was Nancy's uncle in the late 1830's which lists all of Elliott's children. Nancy and William moved to Cass/Bartow Co where she died ca 1852. She is !
buried in Mt Zion Cemetery close to Cartersville GA. Her grave is in bad shape and is covered by bricks which I guess were at one time a monument. Her grave was shown to one of our GA Crowe cousins, by one of our Clardy relatives.
