South Carolina was a destination for some of the Clardys prior to 1800.
James Clardy b.2/15/1782 Halifax County, VA moved with his family to the Pendleton District of South Carolina sometime between 1787 and 1797 (his brother Benjamin Clardy III was born in SC in 1797). He married Frances Richardson (b. 3/17/1787 Anderson County SC) in Anderson County, SC around 1803. Their first three children were born in SC. By 1813 they had moved to Bedford County, TN. Both are buried at the Burns Chapel Cemetery near Shelbyville, TN.

Does anyone out there recognize the name Nathaniel Clardy born ca. 1805 in Va. I have found him in 1830 & 1840 in Halifax co Va. then in 1850 in Giles Co Tn. He had a wife Rebecca, b. ca. 1810 in VA and a lot of kids. Possibly a brother William also in Halifax Co. in 1830. Any info would be a big help.
