You might be a link to my family. In the 1910 of Lincoln County, Tennnessee cencus I did find a Joseph E. Clardy and He was the uncle of my grandfather Lum Clardy and his brother Hugh was living with Joseph during the time of the cencus. So, I am guessing that Hugh went to live with his uncle Joseph help on the farm. Also I have found in the 1900 Soundex Vol.42-E.D. 72-Sheet 2 Line 71. John L. Clardy and listed where two of his sisters Annie F. Clardy B. 2/1953 and the other was Mary Souison Clardy B. 6/1868. And John's mother was also listed Virginia S.Clardy B2/1832. His wife and two sons Lum and Hugh. They where all listed in the same house whole. I am not sure when they moved to Alabama. It had to be sometime after the 1910 cencus. If any of these names ring a bell with you I sure would love to exchange information.

Dot,
Thank You for the reply! I've been doing research for about 5 years now. Ruth Gross has been pretty much unknown to me, other than a few pictures that were left to my Mom when her parents died.
I have a pretty fair amount of information on the GROSS, CHAMBERS, & other related lines of families. It has been a group effort thru various researchers, & cousins.
Please feel free to contact me privately thru e-mail. Looking forward to hearing from you.

My grandfather is J.C. Clardy, son of Joseph John and Ella Clardy. He was born in Reform, AL in 1894. He had two brothers, Samuel and Andrew, and two sisters, Myrtie and Sally.
Is there a connection to your grandfather? Would appreciate any information.

Steve,
Ruth Clardy is my maternal grandmother. She married J.C. Clardy of Reform, Alabama.
They lived in Waterloo, Alabama till the mid 40's. They moved from there to Savannah, Tennessee. Eventually they made their way north to South Bend, Indiana.
My mother is their oldest daughter.
I just started my search today.

Hi, I too have Clardys in that area. I do have a John L. born 1850 and presumably in that same area. A sibling, Amos, was born 1851 and is buried in Pickens Co., SC.
Appears that a few of that family came West to Texas. John

Thanks for posting the info Allen.
This is George Washington and Annie Tidwell Clardy. George's parents are Benj. A. Clardy and Elizabeth Walker Clardy. George's sister Mary Ann Clardy m. Joseph Yates. She [Mary Ann] is said to be buried in Ft. Graham also, but is not listed. There is however, a Joseph Yates buried there, and appears to me to be the son of Joseph and Mary Ann Clardy Yates because of the dates. So my question is: Did Mary Ann Clardy Yates marry a second time? If so, that would be a reasonable explaination as to why she isn't listed in this source under Yates. Or is she one of the UNKNOWN graves listed.
Can anyone shed any light on the subject?
