Sorry this has taken so long. Had some immediate health issues to deal with.
"Geneology Correct" not really sure how to start. I just took any Grandparent name that I had from either side of my family and just started searching databases in ancestry.com, examples....1890 Census Report from a state that sounds plausable. or..... The Andersonville Prison Records, looked up all with that last name.........Marriage Records for some county or town that sounded like it could have been in the right area. Next thing I new, I found a cousin, wrote to them, they had some more information, put notice on Message Board, then more people responded and now I'm acquiring quite a bit of information. Hope this helps.

I think that Joseph was John's father but I believe they were all from Mississippi and Alabama - and I think that my greatgrandfather wound up in Arkansas before he died.
Thanks for your help..

I just had some information from another Clardy reseacher and in it was mentioned a Joseph E. Clardy He maybe the father of John L. Clardy. You did mention a Joseph. But, they are from Tennessee. I believe that most of the Clardy's where from Tennessee and Virginia and Alabama.
Thanks for responding and sending the info - the John Clardy I'm looking for was born 1832 in Pickens Co, AL and d 1908 in MS married Nancy Williams. He would have been my grgrgrandfather if it is same one. I've got to put the info I have together to determine if he is one and the same.
Thanks again for all your help any infor is greatly appreciated.
There sure are a lot of Clardy's aren't there?

The John Lawson Clardy that I have been researching was the father of Lum D. Clardy and Hugh Clardy. And his wife's name was Ella. I do know that a John l. Clardy was the son of Richardson Clardy Matilda Adaline Thompson. born in 1838. Richardson and Matilda had 11 children . The children are as follows: 1. Mary Ann Clardy b.2/9/1836 d. 7/27/1836 she married a Ellis Billington. 2. James Clardy b. 6/3/1837 married Martha Orr. 3. John L. Clardy 10/30/1838 Married a ? Lovington.4. William A. Clardy 2/3/1841 d. 11/14/1856. 5. Fannie E. Clardy b. 1/5/1843 d. 8/28/1918 married to Polk Reeves. 6. Richardson Clardy b. 7/15/1847 d 11/27/1847. 7. Richard Farris Clardy b. 12/9/1848 d. 7/22/1932 married Nancy Emaline Scott. 8. Mary Low Clardy b. 8/3/1851 d. 3/ 1871. 9. Joe Havie Clardy B 9/23/1853 d. 8/11/1927. married Mary Langford. 10. Levica Clardy b. 11/6/1855 d. 12/19/1865
11. Alfred Ranson Clardy b. 4/11/1857 married Cora Byers.
Now, whether John L. Clardy may be the father of our John Lawson Clardy is another mystery. I have not proved this as of yet.
Just found your message - I think I am descended from the John Lawson Clardy you have - did he and his wife have a son named James H (Hubbard)? was his father Joseph?
Any help is appreciated - just getting started.
Thanks

Gosh, Lexi, I can honestly say that I haven't found a death by suicide in the
lines that I'm researching, nor any in the others that I've looked at. Could
financial or physical difficulties in the region that your Clardy's lived in
contributed to the tendency you've noted? I have two Clardy's that married
each other, William T. Clarday b. 14 Apr 1802 (place unk) d. 26 Nov 1845
Williamson Co IL married to Elizabeth Clardy b. 1801-1802 (NC or TN) d. 1892
Williamson Co IL. She was the daughter of Michael Clardy Jr. of Anderson Co
TN and Halifax Co VA. They were reportedly cousins, however, all of
Elizabeth's cousins named William (there are 3 known 1st cousins) are
accounted for with other spouses. The next generation back, Michael Sr. of
Halifax Co VA, does not have any siblings that have been proven, although he
appears in the land records of VA with a Benjamin and a John. So it appears
likely that if Elizabeth married a 2nd cousin, he would have to come from
another Clardy line, such as Benjamin's or John's. If anyone on this list has
any ideas as to who William T. Clardy/Clarday/Clarada/Clarida belongs to, I'm
open to suggestions. To help put time frames into place, remember that the
first land records place John, Michael and Benjamin Clardy in Amelia Co VA in
the early 1760's. They would have to be 21 by this time, so dates of birth
for Michael Sr. would be 1740ish or earlier. His son, Michael Jr. married
Nancy Comer in Halifax Co VA on 12 Feb 1795, so Michael Jr (who died in
Anderson Co TN around 1846) appears to have been born between 1765-1775.
Their daughter, Elizabeth Clardy, was born between Jan 8 1801 and Jan 8 1802
since she was ninety years old when she died in Jan of 1892. Her husband and
cousin, William T. Clarday, born in 1802, probably had parents born anywhere
from 20 to 40 years before his birthdate (1760-1780). Again, I'm open to
suggestions as to who might be William's parents.

Do any of these Clardy names ring a bell for any one?
William Harvey Clardy b 11-1-1900
James Clardy
Hinchy Herman (Pete) Clardy
Loretta Clardy
Ada (Pat) Clardy
Jack (John) Clardy
James Allen Clardy.
I am also curious as to whether others researching the Clardys are running
into a lot of suicide?
