I just found out about that marriage about a week or so ago. That is what
has directed me back to the Columbus GA Jesse. Someone, I think it was
Joyce mentioned that the Jesse in Columbus might have been a son of James.
I was going to use that as a jump off point to make a more intense search
for Columbus Jesse's parents. I have seen a good bit of information on the
list here so if I can ever fit him into the family it looks like there are
several more generations already researched.

Hi
I have heard of this Jessie E Clardy, but all I can think of is his marrage
to Roxey Ann Layfield 1/6/1868 in Muscogee GA.

In an email back in November, you wrote about the Jesse E Claridy that
enlisted in the CSA army in Muscogee County (Columbus) GA. You
parenthetically noted him as "Probable son of James Clardy of Laurens SC.
Which James did you have in mind? Aren't there more than one in that
family? I think that this one is the one I am looking for. I have been
told that my Jesse E Claridy married in Muscogee County 1868 which makes it
highly likely that he was this person. I want to continue to pursue his
provenance. If you had an idea his father might have been James, I might as
well start there...
Still think he has to be a nephew or cousin to your Jesse E Clar(i)dy..
Thanks for any light you might shed on them...

I noted from reviewing the archives of CLARDY-L that you are researching
Jesse E Claraday b abt 1823 SC died in Ellis Co TX who I gather you have as
the son of another Jesse E Claraday who was an 1812 War veteran from SC.
I am looking for information on Jesse E Claridy b abt 1842 SC died Spalding
Co GA 1916. Similarities are too much to be pure coincidence. Do you have
information on this younger Jesse and how or if he ties in to the family you
are working on.
Jesse E Claridy m Anna Maria Layfield abt 1870 or so.. I do not have
marriage details but she writes her will as Annie Layfield Clairdy.
Thank you for your help.

JOE...I've researched on the Jesse Clardy you mention above, who was born
1823 in SC, lived Florida, then Ellis Co, Tx, son of another Jesse. During
my
research while trying to verify his military service in Civil War, came
across another Jesse E. Clardy but this one served from Georgia (not same as
ours). I ordered the Compiled Service record on him and posted it on the
Clardy list couple months ago. I never did know how this other one was
related but I'm guessing he was a cousin...about same age as the Jesse
Clardy
I worked on. That's all I know. I'm thinking that yours might even have been
related (even possibly a son) to the one I found in the Civil War. Sorry.
Joyce, Burleson, Tx Oh yes, I do have some contacts who have done much
more
work on the Clardy name than I have, would you like those?
