Richardson CLARDY

I received the following through my Rootsweb PML-Digest and hoped it might
be of interest to others researching the CLARDY family.

The Richardson CLARDY mentioned below is the son of James CLARDY and
Frances (RICHARDSON) CLARDY, and the grandson of Benjamin CLARDY II and
Agnes (BOOTH) CLARDY. Richardson CLARDY was born in Bedford County,
Tennessee, 23 April 1813, and died there 09 October 1861. He and Aadline
Matilda THOMPSON married 24 March 1835, and I have 11 children listed for
them in my database.

Thompson. The first physician to practice in Bedford County, Tennessee,
Dr. John Thompson was also a farmer, a J.P., a surveyor, and a
Representative to the Tennessee Assembly. (There is a picture of him on
page 116 of Buchanan.) Like his father and grandfather, he was a
Lutheran. Dr. John Thompson d. 5 October 1857 in Bedford Co., TN and was
buried there in Crowell's Chapel Cemetery. Mary died 6 July 1862 and is
buried the same place. Children (all born in Bedford County, Tennessee):
1. Lawrence Carr Thompson b. 15 Aug. 1807; m. 15 August 1807 in Bedford
County, Tennessee, Elizabeth Ransom; d. ca 1840 Bedford Co., TN.
[Buchanan lists 5 children.]
2. Pinkney H. Thompson b. ca 1809; m. Minerva C. ___ ca 1834 in Bedford
Co.; moved to Arkansas. [Buchanan lists 6 children.]
3. Joseph Percival Thompson b. 16 Jan. 1812; m. first, on 24 Aug. 1833,
Prudence Allison; m. second, Myra Wallis; m. third, Margaret E. Fowler.
[Buchanan lists 9 children.]
4. Sarah "Sallie" Thomson b. 1814; d. ca 30 Sept 1826. [Included in
list of children given by Buchanan.]
5. Annie Christine Thompson b. 5 April 1817; m. in 183/i in Bedford
Co., TN, William Newton Orr; died 4 May 1853 Bedford Co.
6. Adeline Matilda THOMPSON b. ca 1818; m. RICHARDSON CLARDY. [Buchanan
lists 9 Clardy children.]
7. Minos Finney Thompson b. 1822; m. Elenor "Ellen" C. W]lliams; d.
1896 Bedford Co., TN. [Buchanan lists 4 children.]
8. William Preston Frazier Thompson b. 1825. Continues line as IV.
IV. WILLIAM PRESTON FRAZIER THOMPSON was born 15 August 1825 in Bedford
County, Tennessee. He married Nancy Elizabeth Haynes b. 14 Feb. 1825 in
Tennessee or Alabama, d/o John Haynes and Elizabeth ____ . [Buchanan
gives Harris, not Haynes, as surname.] William served as a Lieutenant in
the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He died 29 March 1865 in Van
Bureri County, Arkansas and is buried in the Thompson Cemetery in
Cleburne Co., Arkansas. Nancy died 15 April 1906 in Pearson, Arkansas,
and is buried same place as her husband. Children:
1. Henderson Lee Thompson
2. John Newton Thompson b. 19 July 1846 Bedford Co., TN; d. 21 March
1924 Quitman, Cleburne Co., Arkansas. [Buchanan gives as his wife,
Lutitia Wortham b. 1844, d. 1918.]
3. Albert Lawrence Thompson b. 14 Aug. 1848 Bedford Co., TN; d. 11 Aug.
1884 Quitman, Cleburne Co., AR.
4. Ephraim Clay Thompson b. 25 May 1856 Arkansas; d. 27 Dec. 1889
