Byron Clapper, 89, formerly of McKean, twp, Erie, Co, Pa,
died Wednesday, September 4, 2013.
He was born in Erie, Pa. on March 9, 1924.
Son of the late Thomas and Mattie Clapper.
Byron proudly served in the United States Coast Guard Merchant Marines during World War II as a Commander. Byron built homes with his brother Edwin, owned Clapper Brothers Pallet Shop, was a county controller and clerk of courts for Erie County.
A member of St. Francis Church,
McKean Hose Co. Past President and belonged to the Maennerchor Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lois M. Clapper, his daughter Cindy M Clapper Cunning and two brothers Wayne and Edwin Clapper. Survivors include his wife Juanita Clapper of Fla.; his son Kevin Clapper and his wife Portia of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; two grandchildren, Nathan Harrison, and his wife Lisa and Leaha Weidenhamer and her husband Brent. Also three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in June 14, 2014. The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro,
