My ancestor Dorrance Benjamin Clapper, was born about 1822. He married Barbara Ann Aregood about 1839. On the 1840 census,he appears in Philadelphia (2nd ward, Southwark). He, his wife and children lived most of their lives in Freedom, Beaver Co., PA. The first two children were born in Philadelphia, the third and fourth were born in Camden, NJ and the last two were born in Freedom, PA. Dorrance was a boat builder on the Ohio River in Freedom. He died 9-14-1893 and is buried in Highwood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. I have reached a roadblock and can't seem to find out if he was born in PA, or who his parents were and where they were from. Any info on the Clappers or Aregoods will be appreciated. Thank you, Marianne
