What is your question about this family?
I have two generations of parents, and three marriages for her children but no other descendants.

My known earliest CLAPPER is in the 1850 Census in Philadelphia, PA. Lists John, age 27; Jane age 28; William 9; John 7; Anne 5; and Louis age 2 (my direct). All but Jane are born in Pennsylvania. I also have an obituary for a Grace CLAPPER dated 1865 in the "Philadelphia Public Ledger". It says that she was in her 81st year (born 1784) and the funeral would be at her son's home at 2132 Wood St. Per city directories that is where John lived. I have not been able to find Grace or any proof of John's parents nor any possibles other than Grace's obit. Any help would be appreciated.

Hoping someone can tell me how to order this book. I'm searching for the CLAPPER family that came to Utah with the Mormons in the 1840-50s. They returned to Iowa after a short stay. The only one of the family to stay in Utah was Elizabeth who married Hyrum Hendrickson.
Wish I could tie in with her family.

The names in the book start at Philadelphia, when the Klapperts came from Germany. They progress from there to Md. and the Bedford, Huntingdon, and other places like Ohio, Indiana. If you would like for me to look up a name for you to see if they are there, I would be glad to do so.

The Clappers in America book is available for $50.00 from the Blair Co. Pa. Historical Society. The price includes all the 567 pages including the index, postage, and taxes. I ordered one, and it is worth the money. The original book published in 1980, by Marie Leighty Engel, is out of print.
