Does anyone know of a Therman Clapper?
Hello to the List,
I thought I'd through my new CLAPPER hat into the ring. My GG
Grandmother was one Melissa (Lizzie) CLAPPER abt 1848. I have found her
family in two censuses.
My CLAPPER family looked like this in the 1880 census for
Victor, Ontario, NY:
George A. Clapper 57 NY (These are Melissa's parents & brother)
Lucy A. 56 MA
Willie E. Clapper 16 NY
This is the same CLAPPER family in the 1850 census for W. Stockbridge,
Berkshire, Massachusetts:
George A. Clapper 28 NY Labourer
Lucy Clapper 27 MA
Charles E. Clapper 6 MA
Melissa A. Clapper 2 NY
Melissa (Lizzie) CLAPPER married a Joseph CURTISS, a grocer from OH and
they settled in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, OH. This is their family in the
1880 census for Cleveland:
Joseph Curtiss 44 OH
Lizie (Melissa) 31 MA (I think she believed she was born in
Massachusetts as they were there when she was just a baby.)
Lydia Curtiss 11 NY
Clara V. Curtiss 2 OH
My G Grandmother Lillian May CURTISS was not yet born to Joseph and
Melissa. She would be born 11 July 1880.
Any info on CLAPPER's in the state of New York would be helpful. I'll
take anything you've got!!!
Many thanks for participating on this list.
Sincerely,
Dawn Perry-Taft
Central Coast, CA
