I have been unable to find where Polly Clapp was born and who her parents were. Only one tree says she was born in Westfield, Mass, however she does not show up on any records there.
She married Elihu Persons 10 Jul 1799 in Sandisfield, Berkshire but the records don't give any other info on her. They had the following children:
Torrel Larma Persons 1799-1879 (Widow Polly was living with them when she died)
Esther Persons Doty 1807-1891
Catharine Person Roberts 1814-1887
Her Death records show her to have been possibly born in Sandisfield, however she does not show up on their birth records.
I'm hoping someone can help me with this brick wall.

Greetings to Laurie J. Wilson and all others on this site. My name is Mark Whitman and historical research is my passion. I have been chasing the earliest settlement history of Laguna Beach and Arch Beach for quite a while.
I have traced things down to about 5 or 6 families that seem to have very close connections, many of them coming originally from Ellis County Texas, and then later to the coast of California, to what is today Laguna Beach. The Brooks, the Clapps, the Hemenways, the Goffs and Thurstons...along with the Damrons, also out of Texas.
I would be interested in sharing information. I have quite a bit. I tried clicking on your profile, but could not find an email contact.
My main interest is finding the original motivation that led folks to this coastline. For William Henry Brooks, it was probably coming down on horseback from the Downey area to hunt for deer. All the early families I found were RLDS. I have all the original baptism and marriage records from the Community of Christ Church.
The most remarkable character I have found wasSylvia Malintha Hemenway, born c. 1826 in Ludlow, Vermont.
She married Spencer Brooks, then William S. Draper, then Benjamin Keim. She is listed in one early census as a "Doctress" and later as a "farmer" in early Orange County.
Anyway, many of these folks left the Utah and Kansas under less than pleasant circumstances, often persecuted by the very church they had so fervently supporterd, some with their lives threatened. Sylvia Hemenway Brooks had been in Ellis County Texas during the same era as Lyman Wight and his supporters were down there. It was here that William Henry Brooks was born.
Definitely a fascinating story, how this small handful of families ended up in the same place here. Please let me know if you would like to share information, or anyone else here as well.
Sincerely yours in history, Mark Whitman

Hi:
Being related to Thomas Casey Clapp you may very well be related to Lydia Jane Clapp who was marrried to my Gr Gr GrandFather, Frank Young.
I have been trying to obtain confirmation of Lydia's parents but have, so far, been unable to do so.
I would be most appreciative of any help you may provide.
Thank You
