Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I know this is an old site but I just read that Jack A. Clapp died. He was born 8/28/1921 & died 6/22/2011. It was his parents that started Clapp's baby food co in their basement.( Harold H. Clapp & Anna (Alberger) Clapp.
I hope this helps someone.

Here is some of the thing I have learned in research of Joel Clapp and Malinda.
THIS IS THE 1850 LIMESTONE TEXAS

My connection of this family is through the Matheny Line. here is what I have found.
There was a county Split of Limestone County and Freestone was founded 1850. I have seen dates of on the deaths of Joel and Malinda here is what I have found. Notice the above Joel was born in North Carolina - Martha born in Alabama - Malinda was born in Georgia. Francis (Male) born in Tennessee. - Calodina born in Texas and Texana.also in Texas.
Here is all the children of Joel and Malinda but while I have found info I can't vouch for it 100 percent some may be missing.
John Eldredge Clapp --1825 - 1870 born in Alabama --wife Amanda death in Kaufman Texas
Martha Lavonia Clapp ===1827 - 1890 Married John Hawthorn died in Trinity Texas she then married Thomas Jefferson Clark
Mary Elizabeth Clapp = 1829 - 1890 -- Married Eli Holtzclaw then Simon Butler. I have a source on Eli but nothing on the last?
Lewis R Clapp -1830 - 1877 born in Alabama died in Houston married Rebecca Langston then he married Lavinia Johnston
Francis M Clapp ---1836 - no death date and no spouse mentioned
Caladonia Clapp = 1837 - 1854 born in Texas and died Texas She married William Pipes she had one son James Ely Pipes she died shortly after or during childbirth
Texana Virginia Clapp ==1840 -she married 1857 to Simon M Deerman/Dearman not certain of the spelling.
Texana Virgina Clapp was the reason My GG Grandfather and family came to Freeston Texas in the early part of the 1850ies. Dr Alfred D Matheny and his Wife Emily Jane Parkhill (parents for her is John Parkhill and Sarah Clapp who is the sister of Joel Clapp. The Mathenys were on the 1850 Graves County Ky census. shortly they must have gotten the information on Joels death. The Family left the Kentucky and showed up in Freestone Texas they arrived in 1851 later part or 1852. At the same time the same time the Singletary's left Milam County Texas and wound up in Freestone Texas and by the end of 1852 The oldest Daughter of Alfred D Matheny and My GG Grandfather ithamer S Singletary married 04 D ec,1842 Sarah Elizabeth Matheny marriage book A Freestone Texas by the next year my G Grandmother was born to them 1853 Josephine Singletary.
Alfred D Matheny had been named named to manage the Estate in his will. he was also named as guardian for Texana she was the minor child. sources show they were there in 1852 and another source school census show that they were their in the school year for 1854 -1855. The will is on file in Freestone Texas courthouse. The Brands registeration book shows a Brand registered to Alfred D Matheny.
Texana marriage was 1857 and not long after Alfred and Emily and family returned to Graves Ky after Emily gave birth to Alfred D Matheny Jr. 1858 he was raised in Ky but he moved back to Texas and married a girl name Kate ? and had 2 girls.
Alfred and family were back to Ky in time for the 1860 census.
