I checked out Wesley G in Battle Creek this week-end. I'm thinking he could be my ggrandfather. I learned Alaphair died 27 Jul 1887. My grandmother, Edna Clapp, was born in Battle Creek May 1889 to Vina Huber and Wesley G Clapp. I've requested a search of Michigan marriages to see this is him.
Many of his children are buried there as well as his parents.

I would love to exchange information. William Henry Brooks and Annie Clapp Brooks are my great grandparents. I have several pictures of them and a picture of one of the stages from the stage line his brother Nate established, and the big hotel in Laguna Beach that William and Annie built that burned within a few days. I have documents regarding land he gave to the school district there that was to be theirs as long as it was used for school purposes. My grandfather wrote letters to try to get it returned when the school wasn't using it, but no chance. William Henry engineered the first subdivision in Laguna Beach, selling 50-foot ocean-front lots for $25. What was he thinking! We could all be millionaires! I have seen Benjamin's death date as 1861 and 1865. Let's do share information.

This is indeed the same family. Benjamin Clapp has a bio on Wikipedia that is fairly accurate. Lorenzo Frank Clapp's daughter Annie is my great grandmother, marrying William Henry Brooks who with his brother, Nate, established Laguna Beach. I have pictures and documents from that era and have done some research on Benjamin Clapp.

Lorenzo Frank Clapp's parents were indeed Benjamin Clapp and Mary Schultz. There is a bio of Benjamin Clapp on Wikipedia that is fairly accurate. I have much additional information as Lorenzo Frank's daughter Annie married my great grandfather William Henry Brooks who with his brother Nate established Laguna Beach. I have documents and pictures from that time and would be happy to share information. My mother did extensive work on the line, and I have subsequently done a lot of research on Benjamin Clapp.
