The Clapp Memorial states on page 15 of the Clapp Family Meeting section, "..most of these Northampton Clapps being of the blood Capt. Roger, through his son Preserved." I would like to hear from anyone who may have knowledge about the Northampton Clapps at the start of the 19th century.
The ancestors of my spouse, Sylvia Charlene Clapp HEMMES include Asahel and Rachel Alvord CLAPP who had 6 children, all born in Northampton between 1814 and 1824; Edwin H. (Sylvia's ancestor) b. 04 Sep 1814, Alonzo, Julia Ann, Charles S, Sylvester and Rachel. Edwin H. CLAPP and Mary Ann SEARLE had three children, their second born was Edwin O. CLAPP b. 20 Dec 1840 at South Hadley Falls (SE of Northampton). The other two were Charles H. and Mary. In 1856 Edwin H. and Mary Ann moved with their children (possibly not Charles H.) to Adams County, Wisconsin.
Asahel Clapp > Edwin H. Clapp > Edwin O. Clapp > Lester Clapp > Charles Oswald "Dutch" Clapp > Sylvia Charlene Clapp (b. 1946 Cranbrook, BC, Canada) > Derek Charles HEMMES b. 1973 > Anika Faye HEMMES b. 2006 North Vancouver, BC.
Asahel and Rachel Clapp and their 6 children are not mentioned in the Clapp Memorial even though they lived in Northampton. Can anyone suggest why not? Does that mean that this branch is not likely descendent from Capt. Roger and Preserved CLAPP?

Hi Gladys,
I am the great great granddaughter of Benjamin Clapp, and a great granddaughter of his daughter Sarah. I have done some research on that line of the Clapp family.
I am looking for family photos or any history available.

Looking for information about Catherine Clapp and her ancestors. She was born in New York abt. Mar 1842 and died sometime after 1910. She was married to Walter Truman Mills, likely bet. 1870 and 1872, and they had a son named Joseph Walter Mills born White Plains, NY abt. Feb. 1872.
