I am a descendant of Mary Ann Clapp and Lyman Simpson through their daughter Mary Ann. I have looked in the book and Mary Ann Clapp is not listed in the book.

These two approaches should help you:
Use the Google Books "Search in this book" feature on the bottom right (after you've opened the book at Google) Type in the names/words you want.
Look at the indexes at the end of the book -- Index I (Christian Names of Clapps) starts on page 399 and Index II (Names of Persons Who Have Married Into the Clapp Family) starts on page 414.
I suggest doing these things online rather than trying to print out over 400 pages!

Just found your message, Could you please see if there is a Mary Ann Clapp possibly born in 1810 in Mass, and died 10 Feb 1840 in Brewster, Stephenson, Ill. She was marrried to Lyman Simpson and had 4 children. Possible that she may have also been born in NY. Thank You
There are a number of people listed as working on that line at
