Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Which CLAPP I would choose to sit down with at Thanksgiving time is a hard
decision to make. After all, all the Clapp's on my branch descend from
Johan Jost Clapp who came over from Germany aboard the James Goodwill. I'd
love to be able to talk to him about his experiences on the Ocean, and after
they got here. This family was instrumental in starting the "Brick Church"
in Berks County, PA.
But, you know, I think I'd rather fast foward a few years. :) To my great
grandmother, Rozella CLAPP (March 6, 1870, Grundy, MO - August 7, 1941,
Osgood, MO). I guess, my hope would be that she could tell some of the
stories from the older generations, but also she could tell me about her
life with my great grandfather, Robert John MCCLASKEY (1862-1931). She
could tell me about their live in Sullivan County, MO. She could tell me
about her father, Rezin (Reason?, or Resin?) CLAPP.
Rozella could also tell me more about my great grandmother, Cordelia Jane
STUART, who died when my grandma a little girl. My grandma was only 9 when
her mother died, so it would be fantastic to have someone be able to paint a
picture of who she was.
Anyways, that is the CLAPP ancestor, I'd like to sit across from me at my
Thanksgiving table! Thanks for reading!

Just thought I'd throw in a note so everyone know that our Clapp group

All of them. But for the sake of this thread, my grandmother Mattie Burrow Starnes. Eve Clapp married Ephraim Burrow and four generations later, my grandmother was born. Orphaned at age 20, Mattie took over the household and reared her four younger siblings. She married a young preacher, who was also orphaned and raising his three younger brothers. She and her husband, Fred Starnes, had four daughters, losing one in infancy. Then nine years later, Mattie's husband died, and she continued rearing their three daughters alone, one of whom died at age 11. Mattie died in 1923, long before I was born, so I would love to sit across the table from her and hear her stories of trials and tribulations, and I'm sure, her thankfulness for her still living five grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren. And, me? I am thankful that I descended from sturdy Clapp stock.

Got this idea from another forum and from a newsletter I just
recieved. I think it's a great way to get conversation going! So,
here goes:
With Turkey Day coming up: Which ancestor would you most want to sit
across from you during Thanksgiving dinner, and why?
Tell us all!!
Thanks and have a great day!
