CLEAN-UP DAY
OCTOBER 7TH 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
ALL VOLUNTEERS WELCOME
The Clapp's Factory Cemetery Preservation League will be holding a Clean-Up Day at the cemetery on Saturday, October 7. Members of the group will be at the site all day (8 am to 6 pm) to coordinate volunteers from the community in picking up litter, removing dumped materials such as old roofing shingles and appliances, and clearing away dead trees and thick vines. If you can come for part of the day, please do so - and bring a friend! Volunteers are encouraged to bring insect repellent and a pair of work gloves. Also, if you can bring lawn equipment, such as snips, shears, shovels, handsaws, wheelbarrows, etc., these will come in handy.
The cemetery is located in Columbus, on the RiverWalk, just south of where it ends at Lake Oliver Road (near Oliver Dam). Signs will be posted directing the way from the intersection of River Road and Lake Oliver Road, and parking will be at the entrance to the RiverWalk. Water and refreshments will be provided, and a Port-a-Potty will be available on-site. The CFCPL is a nonprofit, all-volunteer group dedicated to rescuing this cemetery from decades of neglect and vandalism.

Google Books has LOTS of genealogy books -- such a terrific new
resource. Heritage Quest Online is another wonderful source, but it is
not free -- some universities and public libraries have subscriptions.
If you decide that you really want your own copy of some old book, check
Higginson Books as they sell reprints. My copy of the Clapp Memorial is
bound like a dissertation and the pages are copied on ordinary white
paper. The books are printed on demand and that one cost about $100,
probably because it is so long. But now that these scanned versions of
books are available, you can really investigate whether is it worth
buying your own copy.

Rev. Peter T. Klapp, aged 83 years, died this morning at 8 o'clock at
his home on highway 100 between Elon and Gibsonville, following four
weeks of critical illness, and failing health of more than two years.
Rev. Mr. Klapp was a most able minister, and had been in the ministry
of the Christian church 58 years, and was possibly oldest in the

taken a most active stand on prohibition. He had preached in many
churches in the state, and only recently had held services in various
churches in this section.
During the 58 years of his ministry, Rev. Mr. Klapp organized 38
churches, received 1,600 into membership, baptized l,000, and preached
5,630 sermons. He preached the first missionary sermon for the Christian
church in the South in November, 1883, at Poplar Branch.
Funeral services will be held at the late residence Friday afternoon
at 3:30 by Dr. J. O. Atkinson, assisted by Dr. J. U. Newman and burial
will follow in Magnolia cemetery. Prof. C. J. Velie will have charge of
the music, and Miss Gwendolyn Patton will have charge of the flowers.

Green, Raleigh; Mrs. C. O. Robbins; Richmond; H. L. Klapp, San
Francisco, and Miss Ruth and DeWitt Klapp, of the home.

I am wondering if you have more info on the family of FRANK CLAPP and RUTH CONDIT. I am researching a SARAH JANE (Jennie) CLAPP, born June 1858, possibly around Santa Clara/Gilroy, California. I think she is the Jenny you mentioned in your post.
My SARAH JANE CLAPP married ALBERT M. STARKEY on Nov. 22, 1873 in Slack in Monterey County, Calif.
SARAH JANE CLAPP and ALBERT M. STARKEY eventually settled in Butte County, CA. They had at least 10 children. ALBERT STARKEY died in Aug. 1919 in Chico, CA.
My research leads me to believe that SARAH JANE CLAPP STARKEY later married EVERETT HUDDLESON and is on the 1930 Census with him in Butte County, CA. The CA Death Records show that SARAH JANE HUDDLESON died on Jan. 29, 1942 and her father's surname was CLAPP.
The information I've collected lists the parents of FRANK CLAPP as MARY SCHULTZ and BENJAMIN CLAPP.
Any chance we are talking about the same family?
