Peggy,
All of us who participate in the USGenWeb project are volunteers. Plus we all have lives, taking care of our love ones is part of that. Glad your hubbie is better.
The CLAPP I'm seeking family info on is because I'm a descendent. In 1837 a mill was built on the Chattahoochee River. The mill was owned by several prominent Muscogee County families.
The mill was burned by the Union soldiers in the last battle of the war. Neither side had received word the war was over. Julius R. Clapp (one of the original owners) rebuilt the factory in it's original location

If any one you had an ancestor let me know.

Hi All,
List mom here. It's the Holiday season, and I just wanted to pop my head in
and say hello.
I wanted to apologize for not doing a better job than I have done. My
husband had a heart attack and open heart surgery. He's to remain off work
until December 19th. We are both young (I'm 44, he's 43), but I had hoped
the doctors would retire him so we could "play" for the time we each have
left (I have a pacemaker-- we both have inherited lovely heart conditions
from our fathers). Not going to happen!
So I have an excuse for doing nothing other than just keeping a not so close
eye on the lists. Once in awhile, I get a notice to check some email from a
"Non member" and I go into the admin and find out it's spam (usually) and
just delete it. Okay, I admit it, if someone had abused the list, I'd
probably caught it! LOL.
Anyway, I wanted to thank you so much for keep the lists going, and sharing
with one another, and with me. It is this sharing that keeps genealogy
growing, and helps each and everyone of us in our quest to find our
ancestors.
I'll see if I can dig up some stats for the list here soon (I'm still
learning the admin software). And I'll try to be more productive in terms
of gathering hints and family things and sharing them with you.
But, in the meantime know, that each and everyone of you is treasured. By me
and by others.
I've been debating if it's too soon from the last time that I called for a
roll call? I kind of look at them as a present from ourselves to others as
we reach out in search of our ancestors and our cousins. We might help a
cousin make a link, and that is indeed, a precious gift.
So let's do a Roll Call, remember to use the subject line in your email to
help other's identify what you want with a few short and consise words
(names, dates, places, etc)... and I am terribly guilty of not doing this so
mistakes will be overlooked!
Take care, big hugs, and Happy Holidays,
Peggy

For questions about this list, contact the list administrator at CLAPP-admin(a)rootsweb.com.
I am searching for Albert Deane CLAPP who was born 1882 in NY to parents Idell Franklin and George A. Clapp.
He was one of six children who were also born in NY.
The family moved from Allegany County, NY to Staten Island, Richmond County, NY. In 1900 Albert is a student and in 1920 he, wife Gertrude b NJ and daughter Ethel b PA are found in Washington DC. Albert is working as a civil engineer. I have looked for Albert,Gertrude and Ethel in the 1930 census and have not found a trace of them.
I have a lot of information about Albert's siblings. The three female members of the family died very early. His brother Faber Franklin Clapp stayed in Staten Island and I have traced that family to the present.
I am most interested in finding out just what happened to Albert and his family.
Thank you,
Nana (NAY-na) RUTHERFORD Redell

Hi, I am looking for information about the life of Thornton W. Clapp who lived in Mississippi and I believe was a professor there. He was originally from Massachusetts. Time period 1850s and 1860s. Thanks! JJ
