Elisha CLAPP was born1822 according to his grave marker in Houston Co. Texas
or 1803 according to census records and other researchers' information. He
was appointed by Sam Houston to lead a company of Leon and Houston County men
in the Mexican War and settled in Leon County where he died in 1856 (again,
according to his marker). His dates are inconsistent; the current marker was
erected in 1935 during the centennial and may very well be in error.
His son was William CLAPP born 14 Dec 1847 in Houston County and died 15 Jul
1929, according to his marker and Civil War pension application papers. His
father is listed as Elisha CLAPP and his mothers maiden name is listed as
'Rollins'. I believe this is a typo and it should be 'ROBBINS'. Family
records and her grave marker give her name as Rebecca ROBBINS.
Annie Laurie CLAPP was my great grandmother, born to William CLAPP and Sarah
Louise SWAN Sep 1887.
Does any of this information fit in with anyone else's CLAPP family?

My Clapp brickwall is George CLAPP. He was from Barnard, Vermont in the early 1800s. His father was Ichabod CLAPP from Rochester, Massachusetts. He was a shoemaker.
Now I can get back from his father to the emigrant. My problem is details on George after he moves to Steuben Co., New York in the 1820s. I think that his wife's name is Sally. Some of their children settled in Allegany Co., New York, including my ancestor, Agile Clapp and another son, Sears Clapp. Does anyone have ancestors who are decedants of this George Clapp?
