I have used this technique several times in the past to find relatives that I have lost touch with. Google "Salvation Army Missing persons" to receive current WEB sites, locations and directions to "start a search". The "Look4them" web site is worth a look see.
Hi everyone,
Those of you that administer to mailing list(s) at Rootsweb know of the
change going on...for those that do not have the "inside" track do not worry.
You all should have received a mailing from Rootsweb [Subj: RootsWeb Mailing
Lists are being Updated}.
The changes to the group as a whole are minimal. Hopefully, all changes
will be completed soon. The CLANTON list has been updated.
Those of you that were subscribed in list mode and digest mode will only be
able to receive on mailing in the mode of your choice. Mailman only sends
one mailing to one email address.
Any concerns or questions that I can answer, please feel free to contact me.
Happy Hunting!

Regarding Francis A. Clanton, my gg grandfather, m. to Mary Van in Conway Co. Ar. Have been searching for his first wife, who was the mother of David and Joseph Samuel.
I found a marriage for Francis Clanton to Patience Whitaker May 14, 1840. Married in Austin, Tx.
Source Texas Marriages 1814-1909
I also found a 1840 NC census for a Francis Clanton
one adult 20 to 30 male
1 female 5-10, 1 female 20-30 and 1 female 30-40
There is also a Joseph Clanton, has a large family with alot of free colored persons noted.
his age is 50-60.
I did a search at Ancestry. I have a Deluxe Membership, and it gives me alittle more info. but trying to find a Francis Clanton that is not a female is very hard.
I am going to work on this Texas marriage. It is a possibility that Francis took Patience to NC.

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone has any information on
the Frankie Clanton that is in the 1870 Wilkes Co,
North Carolina census? I think that she may have lived
in Poor's Knob, NC.
I appreciate any information you can give me.
Michael

An add opn to this Clanton Family.
In the 1870 census John Victor is listed with a whole slew of children and wife and brother.
In 1880. no children listed except for Minnie who must have been Martha and Johns' child. She was 3
Also in May 1880 Martha divorced John. They were married Nov. 2, 1875. Which makes her 15.
I can find no mention of Minnie in later census or Martha for that matter.
I have looked in Kansas, AR, and MO. to no avail.
Also the mortality schedule, forget. It listed Mary Vann, not Mary Clanton.

I have worked on this family forever. The Clanton's that is.
Francis Clanton and Mary Van (Vann) m. 1852 Conway Co. AR
For one reason or another it is said that Mary died in childbirth. I have a mortality schedule.1870
Three of her children were sent to Kansas to be adopted by other families, and Lord only knows why Kansas.
They were living in AR. He the next year m. a lady in Granby, Newton, Missouri living not far from his daughter Charlotte and her family.
In 1870 the two girls were sent to Kansas. Lizzie's census record says adopted, but they let her keep her name.
My Elizabeth(Lizzie) Clanton, lived with a John Landon Family. They were from Canada He was a farmer
Martha Clanton sent to live with Nathaniel Lucas, Canada. He was a Mail Agent
neither had been in the US more then 6 yrs.
Elizabeth married Ira Hines (they were my g.grandparents
Martha married John Victor and per 1880 census she lived in Gardner Twp. Jo Co. Ks.
He was 52 yrs old, and she was 21, She had a daughter Minnie age 3 and trade for John was listed as Farming.
Can't find Samuel or David. Samuel was 12 and b. in Mississippi, (per census) when Charlotte was only1.
Does anyone have any ideas or conclusions?
I would have thought that Francis would have kept Samuel to work on the farm, but in 1877 Francis died and no mention of Samuel or David in will.
