Obituary for Mrs. Leslie E. Crews from the Mexico Weekly Ledger dated Thursday, August 9, 1956, page 2, column 1.

Funeral service for Mrs. Leslie E. Crews, 63, of Mexico, Rt. 1, were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday at the Arnold Funeral Home. Mr.s Crews died at 2:35 a.m. Friday at the Audrain Hospital following a heart attack. She had been in the hospital only a few days.
A lifetime resident of Audrain County, Mrs. Crews, who was Miss Eunice Threlkeld, was born Jan. 14, 1893, the daughter of Hiram and Betty Clanton Threlkeld. In February 1928, she was married to Mr. Crews, Audrain County farmer, who survives. She was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband include a son, Forrest Crews of Anna, Ill.; and Marcellus Threlkeld of Arlington, Tex. A granddaughter, Carol Lou Crews, also survives.
Mrs. Crews' mother died Aug. 29, 1901 and her father died Sept. 26, 1949. A sister, Mrs. Henry (Ethel) Crews died Sept. 12, 1938.

NOTES: As given above, Eunice THRELKELD was a daughter of Hiram THRELKELD (1860-1949) and Elizabeth "Bettie" Frances CLANTON (abt 1862-1901) who married 9 January 1884 in Audrain Co. MO. At about age 35 in February 1928, she married Leslie Earl CREWS. I have no Audrain Co. MO listing for this marriage.
Her brother, Marcellus "Mark" Herndon THRELKELD is mentioned in her obituary. Marcellus was born 3 July 1896 in Audrain Co. MO. On 24 February 1922, he married Edna Katherine GREEN in Mexico, Audrain Co. MO. They had 4 children who I believe are all still living in Texas. On 25 January 1979, Marcellus passed away in Haskell, Haskell Co. TX and was buried on 26 January 1979 in Arlington, Tarrant Co. TX at Moore Memorial Gardens.
