Another individual has been assisting us as well and I believe the connection is at Authur D. Smith who had a daughter Edna B. Smith that married a Gray and had a son Jack Gray (my wife's Grandfather). Edna then, after her husband past away, remarried another gentlemen with the last name smith. Jack Gray married Marjory McCormick and had two sons James and Kenneth. James is my wife's father. James married Debra Flemming and had two children, Julie and Thomas Gray. Kenneth married Jane Child and currently have no children.

Esther Ann Clanton married August M. Smith 16 Sept. 1872 and they had 7 sons and 3 daus: George H. Smith (1873-1907); Charles August Smith (1875- ); Maud M. Smith (1877- ); Arthur D. M. Smith (1880- ); William W. Smith (1881-1930); John Truman Smith (1883-1889); Frank Byron Smith (1885-1949); Albert C. Smith (1887- ); Florence E. Smith (1889- ); Laura B. Smith (1891- ). Their mother, Esther Ann, was, in fact, the daughter of Newman Haynes Clanton thus making her a sister to Joseph Isaac "Ike" Clanton and William Harrison "Billy" Clanton. Can you advise a name or names from the Gray family you are trying to connect to? Perhaps I can be of further assistance.

I am looking for the connection between the Gray family and the clanton's, I believe through one of Ike and Billy's sisters, possible Ester Ann. There may be a Smith connection as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I wonder if this is the same Stephen Clanton:
Saline Co., AR, August Term, 1840: Trial Jury for State of AR vs. Wm. Liry - listed Stephen Clanton as juror. Also listed as juror in trial of A.J. Ward and Ezra Owen.
Does anyone know if this is the Stephen who was a son of Charles Clanton and brother of Sion?

From: The Arkansas Gazette - October 13, 1829 - Vol. 1 - Marriage notice. . .Jacob B. Couch to Miss Elizabeth Clanton, daughter of Stephen Clanton, both of Pulaski County, October 6, 1829, Saline Township, Pulaski County, by Rev. Silas Dodd. (Obtained at Springfield, Missouri public library)
Thought I should share this data since I have seen a listing indicating Elizabeth, wife of Jacob Couch, as being the daughter of Edward Clanton instead.
