Mary Ann Rebecca Clanton married Amos Sutton ca 1868. They are found on the 1870 census in Madison County, FL. In 1880, Mary is found as a widow living in the household of her sister in Lowndes County, GA. One of her six children, Benjamin, is found in the household of his grandparents, Daniel Henry and Abigail Marsh Clanton. I have been unable to find any member of the family after 1880. Can anyone help?

Sandra, since you posted the 2001 query, have you learned anything about the death and burials of Dolly Clanton and/or John Pruitt. They are my ggrandparents. Also, in the 1860 Census, why was John in another household, Dolly was not listed in the Census (probably dead), the children were with John's brother, Joseph, and his mother. A short time later, the children were farmed out to neighbors because "Grandma [Dolly Williams Pruitt] couldn't take care of them any longer. John Pruitt evidently died about 1870-71. Any help on these questions would be profoundly appreciated.

The name Ruby Nell caught my attention. My grandmother was a Clanton, daughter of Edward Clanton. She named one of her daughters Ruby Nell. Could there be a connection. My Clantons lived in Arkansas.

I was wondering if you could help. I found that my great grandmother was Sarah Myrtle Clanton born in 1883 in Humbolt TN to Robert B. Clanton, and his father was Josiah Clanton. Do you know if there are any ties to the Clanton Boys from the OKAY Corral?
