Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Dr. Stanley Ketchell Clanton, 90, of Cornelius, peacefully died Monday,
January 3, 2000 at University Hospital in Charlotte.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2000 PM at Grace
Covenant Church with Reverend Farrell Lemings officiating with Reverend
Glenn Burris, Jr. and Reverend Elwood Ammons assisting. Interment will
follow at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be the
elders of Grace Covenant Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 5,
2000 from 7-8:30 PM at Raymer Funeral Home.
Dr. Clanton was born March 29, 1909 in Darlington, SC. His parents were
Jasper Newton and Elma James Clanton. He is survived by his dearly loved
wife, Emily Clanton of Cornelius, NC, and his sister, Peggy Jean Meyer of
Lansing, Michigan and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition, Dr.
Clanton is survived by a host of church family members.
Dr. Clanton and his wife came to Cornelius in summer of 1938 to hold 3 weeks
of tent meetings. He was engaged in successful evangelistic campaigns in the
South for several years prior to coming to Cornelius. He and his wife
founded Grace Covenant Church, first known as Cornelius Tabernacle, which
began as this revival. He served as pastor for 40 years and served the
church faithfully in leadership for over 61 years.
Dr. Clanton cherished Cornelius and served in multiple functions including
the Boy Scouts and Volunteer Fireman. He volunteered at The Oaks Retirement
Center for over 30 years and was the Senior Citizen of the Year in 1979.
He loved everyone and was loved by all.
