Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

House Bill 836 amended section 552.115, Government Code to make birth and
death indexes in the Texas Department of Health and Local Registration
Offices available to the public with certain restrictions. These restrictions
will close indexes that reveal the fact of adoption, paternity
determinations or contains specific identifying information relating to the
parents of a child who is the subject of an adoption placement.
In addition, information from Richard Bays, interim Associate Commissioner for
Health Care Quality and Standards states that the birth and death indexes
will be housed on the Internet in the near future. However, please be aware
there has not been a date set for this. I did not address the data housing on
CD ROMS, however, access to the internet would not require one to purchase
this data. It will be, of couse, for public usage.

The Legacy program (www.legacyfamilytree.com) will allow the merging of
two seperate files into one dB. It allows one to "drag & drop" a single
individual, his family or all the descendants or portions of records on an
individual into individuals.
You can get a demo copy atthe above WEB site & kick the tires as it
imports GEDCOMs and several other native dB files. I have ben testing it for
over a year as I needed the merge capability that "SuperMerge" once provided
in the DOS world.

Vicki,
Which e-mail addr is correct? With or Without the "CHICAGO"? I spent 6
hrs at the Nat Archives yesterday researching your problem with the info you
provided me & what I already knew. Here is what I found on FELIX. Maybe
others might have more on him.
1) I took a different tact on searching for FELIX, I went after his wife,
Hattie. She first appears in the 1870 Maury Co., TN. census in her father's
(Samuel H. HINES,p.448) house. Her grandparents are James Hines & Nancy ?
both of VA.
2) She also appears in the 1880 Maury Co., TN census (ED168/SH26/LN22)
showing both parents b. in TN. In both censuses the HINES family is located
very close to the Mark E. CLANTON families. There is no FELIX in the 1860 TN
census that I have found or 1870/1880.
3) The 1900 census for Lawrence Co., TN. (ED57/SH13/LN86) list a
Felix(1858) as a married teamster but in someone's household. Parents b.
TN/IN.
4) The 1900 census for Giles Co., TN.(ED28/SH11/LN31) is the first to
list Felix & Hattie(her parents b. TN/AL) with 6 ch born & 4 living. The four
children are listed.
5) Charles(1888) md. Rene WHO/WHEN/WHERE?????????
6) Benjamin(1911) married WHO/WHEN/WHERE?????????
7) Benjamin's children are WHO/WHEN/WHERE?????????
etc..........
8) I didn't get tto the 1910/20 census yet........
9) Last thought.... Dyer Co. is way due WEST of Giles & Lawrence Co (
half a state) what took them to Dyer?

Dear Lloyd,
I am so happy you responded to my e-mail so quickly. Felix and Hattie
Clanton were my great-great grandparents. Their son Charles was my great
grandfather. B.F (sometimes referred to as Benjamin) was my grandfather. My
father's name is Sam Clanton.
>>>>Who/When/Where??????? Samuel probably named for Samuel HINES.
I do not have a death date for Felix or Hattie, according to a cousin, there
is no date on the tombstones, only a year of birth.
>>> And WHAT was that?
They died in Newbern, Tennessee which is in Dyer County.
>>> WHEN?????
Buried in Adkins cemetary, which, again according to my cousin, may be a
family cemetary, as there are several "Clanton's" buried there. Hope to get
there soon to see for myself.
>>> I just search the 13,000 Clanton and found several that died in Newbern,
TN. and Dyer Co. but don't have them attached to any ancestors yet. They were
mostly the children of Roy (LeRoy) CLANTON(1879) & Julia ? There is even a
child, Felix(1918) of his in the 1920 census.
I have not ordered the 1880 or the 1910 Census, do you think this is
something I should do? I have the 1850 and the 1860 census but there is no
mention of Felix on either. I had a copy of the 1870 census, but it is a
head of household listing only, no children's name listed.
According to my records (which could be incorrect) Felix was born in
1858, so I don't understand why he is not on the 1860 census. A man by the
name of Tom Goldrup seems to think he may be the son of Mary Clanton
(husband's name is Abram, I think, listed as A.C on the 1860 census).
According to my records Abram died in a Union prison camp during the Civil
War. I have tried to get a list of Confederate deaths from that war, but
none exists.
>>> Mary Williams, dau of Aaron WILLIAMS & Sallie ? md. Abraman C.
CLANTON(1834) in 1854 in Maury Co., TN. I have her in the 1850/60/70 children
and her two children Monroe & Martha (1860/70) but no mention of a FELIX. He
would have shown up in the 1870 unless he was off at some school. Maybe a
will of Mary's might shed some light or where she died & is buried.
>>> My "off the wall guess" might be Abraham's brother, Henry(1835) which I
have NO info on.
Have tried every Civil War (Tennessee) site on the internet, (some list
enlistee's names and regiments),
>>> Abraham died at Camp DOUGLAS, Cook Co.,IL. 8 Jul 1862...........
but have gotten nowhere there as well. My last inquiry was to get a copy of
the marriage certificate for Felix and Hattie, hoping maybe there would be a
witness name, hoping to find perhaps Felix's sibling. That was a bust. It
turned out just to be a ledger of who applied for marriage licenses during
the time frame I requested.
>>>> A will from Mark CLANTON might help......
I feel like I've reached the end of the line. I have to admit I am getting
a little more than discouraged. I am truly hoping that you can motivate me
once again. Thanks for any help you can provide. Do you think I should try
to see if a death certificate exists for Felix,
>>> With a death date (Omitted) I can check vital records data for Dyer Co.,
TN.
and if so, do you think it will be more than the ledger type of marriage
certificate I've received?
Thanks Again,
Vickie (Clanton) Mc Alpine
>>> We could be getting closer!!!!!!!!!!!!
