Terry "Ike" Clanton I'm sure is a very nice guy, and like all of us, does
not like to see his family denigrated, but the fact is his facts are
wrong. Unfortunately (I am sad to say) the factual history he states is
wrong. He has a GREAT web site though!!
The Earps were no saints of course, especially their friend Doc Holliday,
but this particular Clanton family were horse thiefs and killers, and
hung out with such. The record is clear.

Dear Mary,
Sorry, I should have been more specific:
Once at the site (http://members.aol.com/rarebk), go to BOOKLISTS, then
go about half-way down till you see the Ben Traywick book series - click
there, it will take you to the Ckanton book.
Thanks,
Jimbo

The Clanton's of Tombstone Book is offered at

I bought it and found so much interesting about the family, such as a
Clanton was the first white woman to view California.
BTW - the site has some great Cherokee and other genealogy, the 1835
Cherokee census on line, and some other old rare books.

MaryLouise,
I found the books "Gunfight at the OK Corral" & "The Clanton's of Tombstone"
listed under BEN TRAYWICK SERIES. It included a page to preview about the
events leading up to the gunfight. However, the facts given are different
than the ones given by Terry "Ike" Clanton on his web site-The Clanton Gang.
If you have not visited Terry's page, you should, it's very interesting.
It's at www.clantongang.com.

Your note made me start wondering what I did with the pictures I made
when I was at Tombstone. Will have to look for them. Mary Louise
In case anyone is interested, this is from "Pioneer Families of
Missouri", by W.S.Bryan & R.Rose (1876):
p. 250: Drury & Henry CLANTON of Tennessee settled on a branch (in MO.)
called "Pinch" (so named because the people who lived upon it were
always "in a pinch" for something to live on.) Pinch was about 5 miles
south of Danville in 1818. Drury was a Methodist preacher & it was at
his house that the first Methodist church in Montgomery Co. was
organized by himself and Rev. Robert Baker about 1819. Drury married
Miss JAMES of Tennessee. Their children were: John, James, Thomas,
William, Eliza, Nancy, Angeline, Rebecca & Patsey.
Henry CLANTON (probably a brother of Drury?)
married twice (names not given). His children were: Wesley, Alonzo,
Sally, Martha & Mary. Martha & a negro woman were burned to death on
the prairie in Montgomery Co.
