Hi there;
Do you have anyone in your database called Tryphenia Clanton who lived in
Pickens County Alabama? I know that she died sometime before and probably
close to 1923. I know that there were Clantons in Pickens County Alabama .
Can you help? I have some info about Clantons and deeds in that county, but

Yes, the Bullards in question (Nancy's people) are said to be descended from the Massachusetts
family, her grandfather I believe I was told going south. I descend from another branch of the New
England Bullards on my dad's side, and another branch of the Clantons on my mom's side. Tom and

Thanks Tom & Jim, Now solve another question.... I have John's death
date as March 1, 1838 and a notation that he died "in the war", also
that death occurred in Cherokee Co. AL.
The only "war" I come up with is the Seminole... Was there a local
battle in Alabama... or are my notes totally in error. Betty
Got curious... checking out Bullard. I think the Bullard's in question
were originally from New England. The bible probably belongs to that
group. Joseph H. Bullard, shows up on WWI draft list as living in CA.
There's a Dexter Lyman Bullard, born NY, who registered at White Pine
Co. NV. The New England Bullards were from Mass., There was a Bullard
from Worchester MA, who married and died in NV.
As to the Native American line... Assuming Cherokee? from North
Carolina? and was it Nancy or John who has the tribal connection?

Hi Lloyd and All:
Would be interested in knowing the ancestry of the John Clanton who was Cherokee that married Nancy Bullard. Do
not know his parents, but do know he is not the father of Jo Ellis Clanton and etc that some had thought. The
Cherokee John died in Alabama and his widow with kids moved on to Southwestern Missouri; the John Clanton that was
father of a big family that also settled in Southwestern Missouri died in Arkansas. These two John's both lived for
a time in Tennessee and were about the same age. Cherokee John was in McMinn County and the other John in Fentress
County. The other John originated in the Iredell-Wilks County area of North Carolina; do not know where the Cherokee
John came from. If anyone can document his ancestry would love to know. Do not know what Newman Haynes Clanton's

Hi,
My South Carolina Clantons named a daughter Tryphenia in the 1920s. Some of
these Clantons and Browns had gone to Alabama to "work turpentine". Although
I don't think Tryphenia's father was there, someone may have mentioned the
name in a letter or when they moved back to South Carolina.
Somewhere in Alabama, there are two Clanton infants buried that belonged to
"Ted" Clanton and Minnie Brown Clanton. They were living in Alabama between
1910 and 1920. (The parents are in the South Carolina census in 1920.)

Lloyd,
I am confused as to who has possession of this bible, but if someone would
copy and transpose it ... it would be a wonderful addition for the CLANTON

Hello,
I am a descendant of the Clanton/Bullard side of the family. John & Nancy
(Bullard) clanton's daughter, Sarah Ann b 23 Nov 1830 Mouse Creek, McMinn,
TN d 18 Nov 1907 Indian Creek, Newton, MO. Sarah married William Thomas
Robertson who is a descendant of mine. They married 01 Dec 1850 and rumor
has it that William Thomas' father wasn't too pleased when they were married
because she was indian. He later grew fond of her, but there is a story
about Nancy, Sarah's mother, that she disappeared after the wedding and was
never seen or heard from again. I can't find any evidence which documents
that claim, but I would love to find out. If anyone is searching the
Robertson/Clanton line or the Clanton/Bullard line and wants to send me
info, I would love exchanging info.

Hi Lloyd,
This message is very interesting to me. I descend from Nancy Bullard and
John Clanton. To date, I have been unable to prove that John Clanton is
related to the other Clanton's in MO. Apparently I have missed out on the
fact that----"John CLANTON is the 4th cousin
> 2 gen removed from Newman Haynes CLANTON".--- I would really appreciate
getting caught up on this. I was totally shocked when I read this.
This bible could definitely prove this connection. Is there a way to get a
copy of this?
I do not have a Mary Jane or Joseph H. Bullard in my data base that were
brother and sister with a mother Mary. I am a little more than confused here
so could you get back to me.
Thanks,
Renee Schaeffer

Hi Tom,
I have traced this line of BULLARD/CLANTONs and they are definitely
related to Old Man Clanton but very distantly. John CLANTON is the 4th cousin
2 gen removed from Newman Haynes CLANTON. One thing too, John Clanton & Nancy
BULLARD had a dau., Martha Louise, who md. Henry Price BULLARD in MO. Henry
was the son of Boyer BULLARD & Elizabeth HODGES. Boyer was the brother to
Henry
BULLARD, father of Nancy BULLARD who md. John CLANTON.
Sure wish the bible gave info on Henry BULLARD & his wife...Leah
(UNKNOWN) or Henry's father.
Kinda get complicated after that. I have forwarded your letter to the
Clanton group to see if there is any response.

LLoyd,
Shirleen Johnston sent me an E-Mail about a Bible that was found in an attic
of an old house that was being torn down here in Ely, NV.
It has a Benjamin Dexter Bullard 1st. Benjamain Dexter Bullard 2nd., Mary
Jane Bullard, Joseph H. Bullard, who were the childrin of Mary. This section
is listed under "Grand Childrin of Samuel R. and Mary C. Dickson.
I quote Shrileen, "I think it is possible the Old Bible may have belonged to
"Old Man Clanton", Newman H. Clanton or one of his children. The Bullard
name is familiar to me. Nancy d/o Henry Bullard m. John Clalnto in McMinn,
TN."
Not sure this will be any help. I hope it is, I would love to find some one
to send the Bible to. It is not my book, so I would have to talke to the
owner. Let me know.
