Hi Clanton researchers!!! I haven't had much time to research in the past
year. However, I am still trying from time to time. It seems no one is
related to me, so I just hung it up for awhile. Since Tom is online now he
may be able to answer some of my questions. I am at such a loss with my John
Clanton Sr. Kershaw County, SC. He gave some land and a house to his
grandson, my gggrandfather John J. Clanton. I have many documents from that
time period, but still unable to determine who John J's father was. Any
clues??? I think Jackson Clanton was a brother to John Jr. since he seemed to
part of that household as well.
Margaret,
The list is still online. I think everyone is still full of turkey from the
holidays. Not sure what to do to spark interest. Know any clown tricks?
<grin> Thanks for the story...it brought back a couple of memories of some
CLANTON relatives.

I recently met one of our cousins on line who is 80 years old with a keen mind
and good sence of humor. I received this e-mail today and certainly enjoyed
it so I thought I would share it with all of you. My son-in-law is a dentist
so I plan on sending it to him. Can any of you relate to this?
Our Clanton group is very quite, are you still out there?
Margaret
*************************************
After all, I'm the one who wrote a check for $8.27 when the receptionist at
the dentist said, "The cost is eight twenty seven, Mr. Clanton." When I
handed her the check she said, "Oh no, Mr. Clanton, I meant eight hundred and
twenty-seven dollars." I must have thought it was still 1937!!! (TRUE STORY)

Tom and Jim,
The only documentation I have that I consider proof is through Matthew Eugene
CLANTON (my great-grandfather). The rest of what I submitted is from History
of Webster County Mississippi from an article submitted by Loesther W.
Clanton and from the notations her conclusions were from notes you (Tom
Goldrup) had submitted to her and like you consider it all non-conclusive.

Hi:
Was wondering if anyone can document the claims that John Clanton, the
emmigrant, is father of Marmaduke, and that Marmaduke is father of
Edward, and that Edward is father of William that died 1725 Surry
County, Virginia. We can document our ancestry to this William, but can
find no documentation further back. The IGI at the Mormon library is
not documentation, we need to know where the person submitting those
names found it, or is it all heresay and wishful thinking. We will be
very pleased if someone out there has this documentation, as it would be
nice if this is accurate and we have our line back to the emmigrant
John.
Much thanks......Tom and Jim Goldrup.

Hi everyone!
Welcome to all newcomers! Glad to see you and hope we can all help each
other.
I trust everyone had a joyous and safe holiday season. Not that the holidays
are over may I suggest some of the "old" timers posting a query that they had
posted sometime back. We have quite a few "new" subscribers that might be
able to help your search. Has anyone found any new information they would
like to share? Now seems to be a good time to "spark" some interest.
Let me take this opportunity to "reintroduce" myself, I am Susan Penn Groover.
I am the "listowner," coordinator is the word I prefer to use because I feel
the list belongs to all of the subscribers. Below is a narrative of my
